Of course when guys like Tannehill beat the Patriots, it makes you wonder if the QB is really that important. Not if you have the right other pieces. They have to be decent though. Pats Offense is 2 people. So there is that. Isn't that the truth. R. Tannehill 8-15, 72 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT

Derrick Henry had 34 carries for 182 yards.....................................................

Yeah, Henry and that O-line for Tenny crushed them. So, when does Brady come to town?

My vote would be Brady simply because of PR's history of erratic play and questionable decision making... But honestly whichever is cheaper.

Good question to ask Freak, should spark some opinions- here's mine: Rivers knows this organization (not just the team or offense, the entire organization!) which is an inherent advantage for him and to the team. Neither PR or TB has played well this past year, both showing their age and its inevitable decline of athleticism. TB has performed OUTSTANDINGLY over his career, but has had the advantage of playing for a premier club, a premier coach and opponent's video surveillance. PR has performed above average despite never having that trifecta. Both are viewed mostly favorable for their on and off the field lives. Both are short term players- maybe two years each? Would adding TB and letting PR go be a positive or negative? Lots of TB hype, but a black eye for the team on not resigning a beloved career star. I think fans leave instead of jumping aboard the TB bandwagon. So the bottom line for me is that these two are pretty similar right now in terms of their quarterback play. But the intangibles favor Philip Rivers. TT pay the man!

Patriots did not lose this weekend because of Tom Brady... Chargers (arguably) did not make the playoffs because of PR... REACT TO MY REACTION!!!

Mr. Spanos. We are moving into the new stadium. What do you want on your Billboards ? Rivers throwing 30 interceptions, or Tom Brady ? I know its a stupid question, but the Marketing department wanted me to ask.

Right now? I would take Brady. He's not the same QB, but he will put butts in seats and help revitalize a floundering franchise. Who knows? Maybe the guy with the right team around him could make a run? Manning did it.

So far we have moved on from Whiz.
I'm not attacking PR. I don't know what he has left. But we are damn sure allowed to explore EVERYTHING after a 5 win season.
Who in the hell CAN'T wonder if moving on from your no ring 16 year QB isn't a needed change ?

Manning did it with a brutal defense.Thats not what the Bolts are about lol.Brady would be runnin for his life here just like Rivers(not that PR really runs)I think trynna bring Brady over here would probably make things even worse as we would look like an even bigger circus sideshow when we miss the playoffs again.Resign Philip, build the o line with early draft capitol and some free agents, draft a mid round RB and WR plus grab a couple in free agency and if our pockets arent empty we need a F.A. DT to FINALLY free up Bosa to do work.If we still fail to make the playoffs next season Complete Rebuild Mode from front office on down to the waterboy!

I would get one there. Also, get a FA RB.

Boltgang, I think I like everything you said in your post but I especially liked the " even bigger circus sideshow" phrase! That's a good point. I understand all the comments about "it's a business" and "money is all that matters" to owners, executives, teams and even players. But aren't the Chargers already the franchise that tried bringing in Unitas and Jim McMahon way past their prime??? Bringing in Brady would be eerily similar to those acts of desperation from previous Charger clown decision makers. And do the Chargers want to build up that reputation??? And how about their reputation for loyalty to their own? If they cast Philip Rivers aside when he wants to come back, will memories of Seau, Harrison, Tomlinson, Gates and so many others resurface to cement the image that players are abandoned by this team despite career-long contributions? Will a reputation like this cause players and the public to shun the Chargers? That could impact profit. Money talks, but investing in your image/reputation may pay dividends for years. Dividends greater than circus peanuts.

The NFL and loyalty do not go hand in hand, if you think these players (with the exception of PR) are loyal to you or the city they play for I have some real estate in Iran I'd like to sell you.
