Listen, if Bosa becomes difficult (asking way too much... $28 million), holds out like MG, then I consider trading Bosa. But I am in no way fooling myself that I will get a better pass rusher in the draft. It can be a crap-shoot. Currently, Bosa is producing as the 4th best pass rusher in the NFL. Ahead of most of the highest paid pass rushers in the NFL (Mack, Donald,Miller, Lawrence...). I get the Bosa talent, but if as you say it comes down to trading him off, the sky isn't falling. There are plenty of ways to accomplish the task......I don't remember any Bosa like talent at DE when the Bolts had Merriman and Phillips creating havoc.......

Funny you say that and then you name Merriman.
Merriman was the Bosa of that team. But, you won't find it easy to pick up another Merriman either.

No, not really......much more I am interested in forcing you all to consider all options, which include Bosa not wanting to stay a Bolt, or just trading him. In that case you take him out in back of the barn and shoot him.

Well now we've traveled a very long winding road for you to change your tune entirely from what I originally responded to - that Bosa was under contract for 2020. So now to be sure I have this straight: We'll see Bosa on the field in Bolts in 2020 not because he's already under contract and will report under his 5th year team option (exercised), but because he'll be extended for no less than $22m per year before the season begins. Right? If you go back to my original post, you'll see that I proposed signing him to a new contract in the off-season so that we wouldn't even have to mess around with the 5th year contract. You're making this more difficult than it has to be... I did go back to your original post. The one you quoted here isn't it. This is the one where you flip flopped from your original post. |

I see a big difference between Bosa and Gordon - the positions they play. It's much more likely you can replace a RB than an edge rusher. They'll pay up for Bosa because they can't replace him in the draft....... Gordon's replacement may be found in the late rounds. I have a gut feeling though that Gordon has learned his lesson and he'll take the 10M offer at seasons end. I agree with pretty much everything Roo, but with one caveat.....what happens if Bosa is not interested in resigning with the Bolts, regardless of the dollar amount? Not a chance in hell I would offer Gordon 10 mil/yr.......Gordon lost that bet. * every player gets replaced, never forget that Not in year 4 !!!! You draft guys to groom stars for your team. You don't use the 4th pick overall, get a Joey Bosa with plans to get rid of him after 4 years. That's not how you build a team. At all.

No. I'm saying (knowing the Chargers) that they will probably offer $16 mil, then be all butt-hurt when he doesn't roll over like a dog and accept $16 mil, and then bad-mouth him to the media because he wouldn't accept. I would offer $22 million and negotiate from there... like a normal club... Normal ? Oh that's not happening. (Fish and Chips. I forgot to put fish and chips on my list in the other thread. How do you forget fish and chips for London. Stupid stupid stupid. You know..........after researching my food Bolt list I came to a conclusion. The food in England sucks. I mean sucks. Merriman was the Bosa of that team. But, you won't find it easy to pick up another Merriman either. My point was the Bolts can create the needed havoc by having talent at other positions. Merriman was a LB, not a DE..... Losing a talent such as Bosa would not be ideal, but it also won't be the death of the club either.
