Did you just say lets see what Shane Steichen can do ? Who's claim to fame was being the Cleveland Browns Offensive Quality Coach for 2013 LMAO !!!!!!!! Whisenhunt will be employed fast. If he waits, he might get a HC job in the offseason. Book it. From me to you. This frees him up to HC soon. Mutual agreement IMO. Basically, you do not need OC. PR calls the plays anyway
Can we please just run the Hurry Up offense full time and actually let Rivers call his own plays??? Am I the only one who thinks this would work?

If they do nothing else, you have to make that happen.

The bottom? The offensive coordinator is nowhere near the bottom. Whis was near the very top of the pyramid and he was being paid well over $1 million / year to serve in that capacity. Bottom of the big 3 (Offense, defense, head coach), nobody cares about firing the waterboy or the assistant wide receiver coach.. Ahhh, so it’s the bottom of the top. And every time a coordinator is fired, the other coaches follow in short order. Thanks for that info as this NFL fan for the past half-century was unaware of that inevitability factor. Time to fold up the tent for this Chargers fan. See y’all at draft time.

Funny coincidence: Eleven years ago to the exact date of Whis' firing (10/28/2008), the 3-5 Chargers fired defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell. They ended up the season winning the division and a wild card game: - The Chargers have no sacks or interceptions in the last nine quarters. They are at or near the bottom of the league in several statistical categories, including 32nd in passing yards per game (265.1) and 23rd in points allowed per game (24.9).
Cottrell had become a popular target of fan ire as the Chargers lost three of their last four games, including a 37-32 loss to former teammate Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in London on Sunday.
That game was indicative of the Chargers' defensive shortcomings, with no pressure on the quarterback and a lot of passing yards. Brees threw for 399 yards and three touchdowns.

The next season, the squad went 13-3. Maybe mass firings don't necessarily follow the axing of a coordinator, eh? We shall see.

Injuries are an absolute fact, no denying it. Then it becomes "what are you doing with the players that are there ?". I don't think they were happy with what they saw.
That Tennessee goal line debacle was an embarrassment. Flat out bad, like bad.
Then last week players dropping passes, Allen falling down, no run blocking holes, etc etc. Something had to give and the OC was who the HC picked.
Did Lynn pick Whiz before they picked Lynn ? I guess we'll never know. ..............................

Nothing like a good firing to motivate the troops.

Whis was kept on as offensive coordinator when Lynn arrived in 2017 (Whis came back as OC in 2016). When Norv was hired in 2007, it was conditioned upon Turner having Cottrell as his defensive coordinator (I believe that AJ had hired his Buffalo connection as DC before his head coach). I haven’t heard anything about a similar conditional offer being made to Lynn, but who knows? 🤷♂️

Interesting comparison with Cottrell.
Maybe Steichen is a bright young mind who is ready to step up. Or maybe Lynn just wants a running team

I think one of the reasons Seam Payton has been successful is his willingness to take risks. Basically, "lets have fun with this".
Steichen may be that spark.

after watching shotugn formation at the goal line fail over and over again, this change was needed.
Whix will get picked up somewhere else. Chargers hopefully light a fire under them

Happy Days!!! Next should be TT... Curious as to why you think TT should go. How? I've been saying this for weeks...
TT can't draft oline, fails at drafting LB'ers, consistently drafts sammy small school that can't compete, has a history of drafting injury prone players, round 4 of the draft? whats that?
Yes it should be obvious to all why TT needs to be terminated.

Guess it's his fault the OL can't block.. And that Gordon turned into a bum holding out which put the offense in a bind
