I would be fine with both. Start Rivers next year, and have Tua/Herbert learning along the way ? That's a good spot to be in. I'm on the fence... Would almost rather start Tyrod and hope we hire a good enough OC to groom QB Jr. We'll have to give PR that new contract and I don't think its realistic to expect him to not get paid... He can easily make a giant front loaded deal somewhere else. Save the PR money to rebuild the O-line and bolster the defense. Oh yea, and likely resign Bosa. Start Taylor all year ? That's not the plan.
Start him for 3-5 games, then play the Rookie ?
They could do that to save your money. BUT, is the roster too good to go lowball at QB ? I bet that is how they view it.

I don't think it is... Not even almost. This is why I criticize TT... Plug a hole somehwere only for a new one to pop up someplace else. TT lacks vision... The roster is not good enough for a game manager and PR is not good enough for this roster... "Blow it up"...

Herbert in the 1st, if he is gone.....OT would be nice, but add top talent regardless of position. You can say it a million times, but it simply isn't true......TT is not "shaky at best" in drafting. Would you take Tua at QB if he is there ? I think the Bolts would. After last years Tackle pool of suck, its a pretty good pool this year. I REALLY think its QB time, and remember my words with the 6th/7th pick of the draft: You do not know when you will be in this position again. 6th/7th isn't promised to you. QB prospects are not promised to you in the future. Go get our future QB with a 5th year option, here and now. No, I would pass on drafting Tua for several reasons. The injury concern (hip), his height (6'1") and the fact he had an outstanding cast around him. Yes Tua had nice statistics, but that cast of talent around Tua gets me wondering just how off those statistics are. I think Tua is marginal, or even a bust, at the next level. I think the Bolts will be in the QB market this draft, and will take one, maybe even in round 1..... Resigning Rivers will give the club plenty of flexibility as they enter the draft.

People that think PR can lead us to a Superbowl with this team, coaching staff, and GM (Owner) are delusional. No offense lol... So you believe a rookie QB will be able to overcome team, coaching, GM and ownership.......all four aspects you seem to hold in the 'bad' category.

The problems or challenges I see in this approach are as follows: Taylor is not good, and as the losses pile up, there will be big pressure to play that QB you drafted. Like Rivers or not, failing to resign Rivers will leave the club vulnerable at QB. Not resigning Rivers will certainly give you plenty of money to spend, that is a fact. The concern is you cannot buy what is not available. (the high end OL talent you seek just doesn't get to FA status very often) Your approach might work, might not....but there is plenty of roll the dice in it.

So you believe a rookie QB will be able to overcome team, coaching, GM and ownership.......all four aspects you seem to hold in the 'bad' category. Nope not at all... 2 years with PR will net this team nothing. 1.5 to 2 years with the right young QB, maybe we have a chance. I don't know and you don't know... But I'd gamble on the future and not the past.

Taylor is not your franchise but he is a good QB. I bet Pittsburgh wishes they had him right now. Maybe it will maybe it won't... What's worse than where we are at right now??? PR is done. So you will put this teams Superbowl chances on a near 40 year old turn over machine and a rookie tackle??? Lol ok... Read that again....

I also would love to draft Herbert, let him sit and learn from Rivers for a year, then get his shot the following year. I got a funny feeling that Burrows, Tua and Herbert will all be gone top 5-6 picks, leaving the best option a very nice OT. We shall see.....

If Taylor is so good, why would you use your 1st rd pick on a QB ? Rookie tackle.....who said anything about drafting an OT? You believe not resigning Rivers gives you the money to buy your OL, my comment simply says you cannot buy what is not available. No 1 or 2 players are responsible for a Super Bowl run, so your premise saying so is far fetched in my view.

I can appreciate your idea here, but I also think PR would be an expensive "coach" and/or eventual backup. To hold on to PR at this point in his career and contract just hurts the team overall IMHO. If they do end up resigning him I hope they can find a diamond tackle in round 2 or 3 and we see the Chargers from last year. Regardless... PR needs to get his head right, all those turnovers are less a talent issue than a mental one.

I just said Taylor is not your franchise... Draft the future in the 1st. You have claimed the last few weeks and months that the biggest problem this offense has is the O line, now you are saying those 1 or 2 players wont get us a Superbowl? Now you are saying quality FA O-Oline is a pipe dream? I honestly believe we have nearly the same opinion, you just want to hold onto PR for some weird reason like he is magically going to change and after 17 years something will finally be different?? Let PR go and change this teams identity...
