That's the approach TT has used on OL. Five 2-3 picks, 3 clear misses, 2 meh. Hopefully he's a better judge of QB talent. Thats the million dollar question... Before "Suck for Luck" remember who the Colts drafted?? Curtis Painter... 6th round draft pick......................................................................................................................................................

He could keep it vague and about himself-------"I haven't done a very good job helping the Oline. I'm refocusing to improve myself there for 2020. Blah blah blooey."
"I don't need Rivers crying on the podium just because I am on the phone with Tom Brady. The Fight for LA means Tom Terrific for marketing purposes and to put us on the media map. PrimeTime games, etc. Blah blah blooey Part 2, etc etc blah blaa black sheep have you any wool."
Good call. Brady to the Bolts is a ticket seller. I'm sure folks will say you are trading a 38 year old for a 43!!!! Brady would be a good transition. He would have a lot to prove to settle the debate of whether it was Brady or Belichick most responsible for NE success. He could game manage as well as Peyton did at the end but still has a better arm.

Or TT resigns Rivers, signs an OT and OG in FA, then takes an OT @ #6, and gets an OC in the 2nd rd ......then all he needs to hope for is the electricity getting the Lamp lit up. This right here gets my vote.TommyJohn fix the goshdamn trenches already jeez!

I'd rather they go DL or LB BPA. I think Quessenberry is heir apparent and will do just fine.

TT 'could' get the OC in the 3rd rd if the OL evaluations were even remotely solid, but that hasn't been the case for years. Why is that true?

I do not remember all the details, but last year for example was piss poor for OL. So kinda hard to address a position when there are not a lot of options. Not making excuses, but at least we can be fair enough to admit, TT hasn't always had the perfect opportunity. You yourself had said, you prefer BPA over PON. If TT was doing that and OL was not BPA you cannot slam him for complete OL failures. I know many hated Flucker. But he seems to be doing fine in Seattle. So perhaps it wasn't him as much as the system/coaches/ and other OL weakness. This year is good for OL both in FA and draft. If he fails to address OL this year, I'd fire him the day after the draft.

Based on his track record, you could literally see one 2nd-3rd round OL pick, and one FA. Crazy, but could happen.

But they aren't going to. Pouncey, and Q-Ball backing him up. TT has a plan.

OL product reflected in yards per carry, sacks allowed, 13-5 season was better than avg in 2018.

Boltnut or Wood may have a better memory. My thought before I crucify TT is did he have good opportunity to rebuild and choose not to, or did he try and just hit miss's. I believe for the most part he has made some good drafts. We have a solid core or skill positions filled. The glaring weakness is OL and probably DL after. The trenches need addressed now above all else.

There were five Tackles taken in the next 13 picks after we took Tillery.
I'm just going to stop right there.

Not surprising, but most of the playoff teams drafted their QB in the first round or second. One reason management is considering moving on from Rivers and taking a QB with our #6 pick.
This year's Playoff teams: 1st round - 2nd pick - Carson Wentz - Eagles. 1st round - trade up from 12th to 7th pick - Josh Allen - Bills. 1st round - 8th pick - Ryan Tannehill - Dolphins/Titans. 1st round - trade up from 27th to 10th pick - Patrick Mahomes - Chiefs. 1st round - 12th pick - Deshaun Watson - Texans. 1st round - 24 pick - Aaron Rodgers - Packers. 1st round - trade up from 52nd to 32nd pick - Lamar Jackson - Ravens. 2nd round (could be considered 1st) - 32 pick - Drew Brees - Chargers/Saints. 2nd round - 62nd pick - Jimmy Garoppolo - Patriots/49ers. 3rd round - 75th pick - Russell Wilson - Seahawks. 4th round - 102nd pick - Kirk Cousins - Redskins/Vikings. 6th round - 199th pick - Tom Brady - Patriots.
Chargers Options: 1st round - 4th pick - resign Philip Rivers - Giants/Chargers. 1st round - trade up from 6th pick to 1st pick - Joe Burrow - Chargers. 1st round - 6th pick - Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert - Chargers. 1st round - trade up from 38th pick to TBD pick - Tua Tagovailoa - Chargers. 2nd round - 38th pick - Jacob Eason, Jake Fromm, Steve Montez - Chargers.
Food for thought on fixing 2020.

Now think of all the early picks at QB that are announcing after a couple of years. The poor Browns have been taking 1st round QB's over and over. Still, I get your point the odds of landing a good one is sure better if you take one with an early pick. Another thought, we could just keep the OL as is and win the lottery for next years best QB.
