Can you be 13-5 and Mediocre at the same time ? I just flat out don't believe that for a minute. Well, yea...... As I said before, I felt that roster was a 9-7 type roster.....they get the bounces in close games and you see 12-4. Then here comes all that hype about contending for a Super Bowl, and a 5-11 season slaps you hard with reality. The roster simply is not deep enough in talent in general, and just ugly in the OL group. Huh, bouncing balls took us from 13-5 to 5-11. Interesting take............................uh huh........................ WELCOME TO CLUB FREAK 2020 !!!!!!!!!!!

Two separate issues...... Did the GM build a talented roster? Did the coaching staff get the most out of the roster they had? Both questions are answered with some yes, and some no.... In my view, TT has failed miserably with OL.....and Lynn and staff have failed in many ways. Such as bringing creativity and focus on a weekly basis. The fix.....move on from Lynn, and try to figure out where the disconnect is in OL evaluations, then correct it. Did the GM build a talented roster? > Mediocre; just enough to overperform one year and underperform another. The big misses and volume of just poor early picks show a tendency to make bad decisions. They get lucky when clear BPA falls to them, allowing them to get too much credit for others’ (prior teams) decisions. Did the coaching staff get the most out of the roster they had? > No. We very much agree on that. This 100%... Its not just the oline that we seem to miss on, its linebackers as well. You could even throw Dline in the mix...

Then people such as yourself are tooting their horn about how awesome the club is, going to win the Super Bowl....bla bla bla..... I say I do not think the 12-4 record is very reflective of the actual talent on the club.....and here come the attacks. This roster is a 9-7 type roster......they got the bounces and went 12-4.....then they got extra doses of injuries and no bounces, boom...5-11.

Yes, because the record reflects likely overperformance. It’s great when things go your way, but it hasn’t been a championship team and won’t be next year either.

The roster, as it sits, has plenty of talent in key spots. Unfortunately, a very key spot, QB, looks to be in huge need. How TT addresses that, along with his OL issues, will be interesting to say the least. Lynn gets all these comments about what a great leader he is, yet most weeks I see an unfocused effort from his players. I don't hate him as a coach, but I don't believe in him as a HC......if that makes any sense to you. TT had a handful of good picks but failed where it mattered and ran the team straight into a wall. Even if that was the ownership, and that’s possible to likely, he’s the guy with the title.

My grandsons live in Sacramento and are crazy about the Niners so I'll pull for them although I think KC may be the better team. I've seen every single SB so I don't want to miss this one, it looks like it should be an exciting game.

Cross posting regarding Rivers:
One possibility: Chargers non-exclusive franchise tag PR and offer a 2-year deal or playing it out on the tag unless he gets another team to make a deal. Numbers aren’t that different, and TT said himself he has more cap space than ever to leverage. PR either retires, plays on the tag while the Bolts groom the next QB, or gets a deal done with a trade for extra picks.
