Cross posting regarding Rivers: One possibility: Chargers non-exclusive franchise tag PR and offer a 2-year deal or playing it out on the tag unless he gets another team to make a deal. Numbers aren’t that different, and TT said himself he has more cap space than ever to leverage. PR either retires, plays on the tag while the Bolts groom the next QB, or gets a deal done with a trade for extra picks. The Franchise Tag is projected at 25 Million dollars. But none of that matters if the word on the street is true: They have already moved on.

More reality to sink in...................
We go Bridgewater whatever, we have a QB in totally new surroundings.
We go Draft, and we have a Rookie QB on our hands.
-Sigh-

Can you be 13-5 and Mediocre at the same time ? I just flat out don't believe that for a minute. Yes, because the record reflects likely overperformance. It’s great when things go your way, but it hasn’t been a championship team and won’t be next year either. So you and disc are in the camp that your record isn't really what you are.

He's another sneaky devil that I bet his stock rises leading up to the draft. GM's will yearn with fire enough to propel these guys. Turning out to be a QB pool year.

That’s net cheap leverage: either retain the known asset, or use it.

("net cheap leverage". like that's even a thing. don't worry villagers. they will never get by me.)

He is a proven commodity. You know he can play at a high level. The bolts have no one else at the moment.....really. So PR has some leverage

I just can't see how a family man can move his family to Fl. and play in LA. I think the move makes it clear that he intends to play elsewhere next year.
I like Rivers a lot and I don't agree with those that think his skills have diminished. I do agree that he threw too many picks last season but I don't think it was because he isn't a good QB anymore.
None the less, he has decided to move on or perhaps the team told him he won't be offered a new contract? Either way, he won't be a Charger next season. So the question is do they go with Easton/Tyrod, or do they sign a FA, or do they use that #6 pick in the draft for a QB?

It could make for an interesting situation where PR either retires, plays for the Chargers, or has to sell a team on a deal with the Chargers.
