Buncha duckbill platitudes.
Right now, what are the Chargers ?
Who are the Chargers ?
Are they who their record was in 2019 ? in 2018 ?
Never has a Charger off season been so transformative.
It is all to be determined.
Nothing is etched in stone.
At this moment, all is on the table.
No one has any idea what our 2020 record will be.
The personnel decisions between now and May will be fateful.

If we sign Rivers back, then we should draft a Tackle with the 6th. We have no replacement for Rivers if he goes 30 INT's Part II. We would be back in this situation and old Rivers still under contract then. $$---with no idea right now our draft slot or who might not be available.

I just can't see how a family man can move his family to Fl. and play in LA. I think the move makes it clear that he intends to play elsewhere next year. I like Rivers a lot and I don't agree with those that think his skills have diminished. I do agree that he threw too many picks last season but I don't think it was because he isn't a good QB anymore. None the less, he has decided to move on or perhaps the team told him he won't be offered a new contract? Either way, he won't be a Charger next season. So the question is do they go with Easton/Tyrod, or do they sign a FA, or do they use that #6 pick in the draft for a QB? Can he at least save me the "San Diego is my family's home. Our kids go to school there. Its all they've known. Its home for us. Blah blah blooey." Yeah right. As soon as his feathers got ruffled he packed up half the school district and literally went as far as he could. "Rivers has roots now in San Diego." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Rivers has roots in 25 million dollar contracts. C'mon man, lets get real.

We have had a lot more activity on the site since the season ended, than we have during it. All talking about the scenarios. I'm getting excited for FA to start already. Combine....should be good.

On a side note: I wholeheartedly agree with this and as a retired military member I have zero sympathy for the man. Its not like he has kids in high school where continuity really matters... A football season is EASILY far less than a deployment, you take your millions move your family where you want and then get an apartment for the season. Give me a break...

You are what your record is - Bill Parcells That’s absurd and illogical. A record is but one indicator. If the record were everything, why have playoff games unless the top two were tied in every way?

That’s a byproduct of the game’s rules, which could change, and not the exclusive objective view of any complex organism.

You are what your record is - Bill Parcells That’s absurd and illogical. A record is but one indicator. If the record were everything, why have playoff games unless the top two were tied in every way? The system is not set up to compare records other than for seating in the PO's. So they play it out. Generally, most teams in the PO have not met head to head. So they play it out. Otherwise, based on your argument, a 5-11 team is actually a SB contender who lost games due to conditions outside their control. Do you actually think the bolts are a SB contender? I get the idea that there are a lot of factors that contribute, (how complex an organism the NFL is debateable) but in the end, if you cannot win the game via skill, coaching, and strategy, you are what your record says you are.

If the Chargers tag Rivers, then he can retire, play in LA, or sell a team on a deal with the Chargers. The Chargers may tag Rivers but I think that is unlikely. No team will trade for a 38 year old turnover machine that has been franchised tagged.
