Let's think a bit about last years OL. For most of the season the Bolts OL was quite good. Rivers was seldom sacked and our RB's found room to run. Late in the season - perhaps the last 5 games and the two postseason games the OL seemed to come undone.
So, I've wondered did they wear down? Was it the better DL they were playing against at seasons end? I think it was a bit of both. Lynn seemed reluctant to play any of the backups, the starting 5 played almost all the time all season long and we did play teams that are known for a strong pass rush. - Denver, KC, Pitt, Balt., and the cheaters. Remember during the latter part of the year Lynn was asked if Lamp was ready to play and he replied yes but I'm reluctant to break up the group. I think that's a sign that he didn't give the starting five enough rest. Who knows for sure? I'll tell you this though, the offense will never be as good as we want them to be as long as the OL is sub standard. The OL is more important than most people realize.
Coach Lynn said this offseason that one of the things he wanted to change was rest time for the players. He didn't feel it was enough last year and vowed to change that this season. He specifically pointed to Running Back and Quarterback.
It sounded like a learning lesson for our "newer head coach". Which is fantastic to hear the growth in him. Guys grinding hard all year, chasing the division title with big games at the end, road warriors, then oh, welcome to the playoffs on the road..........................there was a lot asked of our team last year.
Excuse mentality in full blossom.......

Excuse mentality in full blossom....... No, that's not how he came across at all. Why is it if our coach doesn't do what we like we attack, but when he is willing to learn from last year, we attack that too ?

All the blames goes to the coaching, and AL gets the guillotine first. It is the way it works.....and what is sweet, is the line to be a coach is always full. Win or the basket it is......

Excuse mentality in full blossom....... Or he's just acknowledging improvements can be made. ^^^THIS^^^^ Two years ago he learned to not force the run. This year it was rotation. He is going to make it work for the Lombardi.

If we JUST had Lamp and Sioux Falls in the mix alone, that would be a huge rotation add to keep linemen fresh. I'd like to see what Scott Quessenberry does this year...............

Except that rotating OL isn't done.......with the one exception of late in a game that was won much earlier, and even then the rotating is limited to a player, or two......never the entire group. AL simply doesn't have the horses to be doing much rotation of OL players. AL specifically mentioned QB, and the couple of times he did pull Rivers, just look at the disaster that ensued. I have high expectations Tyrod will be a significant improvement, and perhaps Rivers does get some rest......but OL will play it to the end....just like goalies do.

A better comparison might be soccer, or basketball...... * Goalies always wonder why those guys go sit on the bench and rest.......seems weak to us that play all 60.

There WILL be rotation and 1-2 game rest for oline starters. Book it.

The only thing to book is HC's play to win, and the drop off in talent at LOT and OC is to great, not a chance in heck AL has Okung or Pouncy as healthy scratches. Perhaps AL schedules the OL 'rest' week with the QB 'rest' week, that way Tyrod will have a reason to be running.

When I wrote about giving OL some rest I was not thinking of "a week of rest". I had in mind rest at practice and rest late in games that are already decided. However, our backups have had plenty of time to know the system and they should be capable of spelling a starter as needed. If they aren't, it's time to replace them.
Frozen one - I enjoyed your humor in the post above.

I just watched it again, Feeney played well v Bal in playoffs. Some of the line calls left intentional holes. It was clearly designed to leave gaps where the blitz came from, PR had to make timing throws or throw it away per the game plan. Also per plan, Feeney is last OL to get in stance. He's more upright looking to Rivers, looking upfield, relaying calls & changes to Pouncey & others. Did Lynn ever explain why Feeney plays a kingpin role in OL calls & timing?
