Held out TC, Preseason, 3 reg season games, didn't play a 4th, didn't play very well the 12 games he appeared in.
He was too early. We were 2-2 in the 4 he didn't play, 3-9 in the 12 he did play. Came back after 3 when he was due in the 10th. That's called coming back early, and the org. was again, impressed. Let me tell you where you are at here: You can make the argument that Gordon is THE FA running back this offseason. You want to lose that ? Fine. Be careful what you wish for. Gordon is a must keep without Rivers.

Why would Gordon want to come back? Terrible OL, God only knows what at QB, rookie offensive coordinator....... Unless TT over pays, Gordon is long gone.

Gordon will only be THE FA running back this offseason after all of the other good running backs are signed.

He needs to be replaced via the draft anyway.

Gordon is a must keep without Rivers. Why? He’s inconsistent, not great, and it’s not like the Chargers are going to be in the hunt for a while. Save the money.

I agree, would not even attempt to sign Gordon. Save the money? Nope......spend it, and a bunch more on acquiring Conklin, Thuney and Scherff.

Do you honestly believe the way the season went, the way the team played, that those stats mean anything ? Football stats are for fantasy players and the dim. LOL! Of course! W-L is meaningless, it's how you play the game! (? duh? )

I think I detect some icy sarcasm. Pretty sure Lynn wants a solid run game, equally sure he wants to pass. Make 'em defend the entire field. The ability to convert short yardage consistently and take the air out with a lead in the closing minutes is something I believe AL would like to have in his pocket but it's only a piece of the picture. Establishing an imposing ground threat opens up the pass.
I think Rivers was a problem with his audibles, so reeling that in was important. If there truly was a 'control' clash between Rivers and Lynn, I understand the FO's decision to move on from Rivers, and there was way more to that decision than just taking HC over player. That acknowledged, I think Lynn is just an average, to even below average HC, and would have moved on from him. All of the 'wants' you have listed won't help a boring, predictable, sloppy HC..... Yea sloppy....just look at how unprepared his team was in so many games, that is on him. Moving on from a franchise QB, even one clashing with the HC, has not made this team better. Welcome to QB hell...... I saw sloppy players. It wasn't typical of Lynn's Chargers. They were guys like King who knows how to play at a very high level and did so in the past for Lynn. I thought it was a case of trying too hard. Rivers included, - who may have been the primary offender. It's the belief among many GMs & owners that it's better to let an aging star go too soon rather than to keep him too long. I know that has been the Chargers operating theory. I agree with moving on from PR. Use that cap on FA OL, other key position(s) as opportunity permits. Keeping PR would have been a stalling tactic that may have avoided QB hell in 2020 but was unlikely to lead to Lombardi heaven. There are NO guarantees.
Give Lynn his mobile QB & ground game with a killer D. See how it goes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Rivers had his best years as a young QB with LT pounding the rock. That isn't coming back.

I bet Gordo goes to the Rams. I think it's either Chiefs or Chargers.

Blame the players, then exonerate them by declaring their sloppiness was because of too much effort....... sorry, but what a crock. It was a consistent trait of the Lynn run club, being unprepared, unfocused, sloppy play.......resulting in 5-11.
