I forgot about this tidbit: once tomorrow's deadline hits at (4/27 @ 4:00 PM EST), signing Jason Peters won't affect 2021 draft pick compensation (i.e., a 3rd round pick for PR signing in Indy).
I have a feeling that we will find out pretty soon whether or not Peters has been in the 2020 plans.

For the team and as a Charger fan I hope Herbert works out.

I would. he doesn't think or play with composure when he is like that. he'll press and try to do too much. he'll put the game on his shoulders and alienate the rest of the team in process. May not need to put the team on his shoulders this go around. They may step up. one can dream...

Why should any of you care about Rivers ? You didn't want him here so he's gone but he still is taking up space in your head Move on already...he is the past and the future is whoever can survive behind this stellar O Line. its called respect. the guy was our franchise QB for 14 yrs. Unfortunately Rivers went off the reservation in year 14, so far off they had to move on from him. The Rivers decision far downstream, TT has decided to not provide any reasonable OL for the next QB.......sadly.

Agree to disagree. Our internal trouble has little to do with Rivers new and separate dynamics at Indy, or our new Oregon QB. But i'll tell you this much, I would NOT be looking forward to a pissed off Rivers playing us. I would. he doesn't think or play with composure when he is like that. he'll press and try to do too much. he'll put the game on his shoulders and alienate the rest of the team in process. no no no no. I don't mean pissed off pressing Rivers. I mean deep down anger in his soul on a talented roster that treats him right quiet revengeful type of Pissed off Rivers.

He'll play to his talent. never above it. which will make him tough to beat or force errors. we had that a lot when he was with us.

I so disagree, 2018 at Pitt shows me different, 2018 at KC shows me different, 2018 at Baltimore (in playoffs) shows me different, (even the 2nd half of the Patriots playoff game put up 21 second half points to their 6 second half points), those were the days. Rivers on this LAC team, we'd be talked about a lot right now more so than already are. I'd say Ballard had as good of a draft as TT (shame TT couldn't have offseasons like that for PR17).

I know this may be an unpopular take but I cannot get into the Bolts QB situation because the story of Rivers isn't over. I cannot move on because he is still playing, and I can't understand how fans who once loved him can just move on already when the body isn't cold yet. I for one am pretty sure Rivers is going to play at an MVP level with the Colts this year and it pains me that T.T. killed free agency and the draft when Phil's gone, where were these chess moves when P.R. was here?! This will stir some feathers here but I feel Rivers will play at least 3 more years and that my gut is telling me that 2022 Rivers will be playing better than 2022 Herbert which kills me that we didn't tag him or work out a team friendly deal. I know Herbert may be a bust, or even great like Phil but to get to the level we already had, why fix something that isn't broken? (the line was broke, not Phil) but perhaps Phil and Lynn's relationship and the 16 road games is what was broke and maybe Phil didn't want to be back. I have grown to love Phil more a little more than the Chargers, it's unhealthy to have to root for both a player on a different team and a team without my QB. This is painful. A lot have already jumped on the Herbert bandwagon and I hope he's as good or better than Rivers or Fouts but realistically that's a tall order and he could be horrible like Ryan Leaf (great Wonderlic Score horrible talent?), or so-so like Ryan Fitzpatrick (another smart player) or a Stan Humphries or Fouts or Rivers, never know. TT said today that if the Dolphins drafted Herbert TT would of drafted Tua and I could see all the same people in here that are slobbering all over Herbert now ripping him to shreds if he was on the Dolphins.

I haven't moved on from PR other than hoping the Colts are the 2nd best team in the AFC in 2020. There were multiple reasons behind my many months away from the board, but one of the main factors was that it became apparent that the franchise was moving on while I wasn't mentally ready for the move. PR is heading to an offense that has similarities to the late 2000's Chargers squads where he didn't have to be in a position to make things happen (more-than-solid oline and skill position players), and with him going to a Reich system where he is more than comfortable I expect a Whiz-like bounce-back performance in 2020.

Jamis Winston signs with NO. Jameis Winston is thrilled to join the New Orleans Saints and become an understudy to Drew Brees, who takes pride in developing young quarterbacks. While having the opportunity to learn from Brees, Winston will also enter a quarterback class taught by Sean Payton and many other Saints coaches.
An embarrassment of riches for Winston.
"Being a part of (the) New Orleans Saints, with Drew Brees, Taysom Hill, Sean Payton, coach Joe Lombardi (quarterbacks coach), coach Pete Carmichael Jr. (offensive coordinator), when you think about that room, that's like a Harvard education at quarterback school," Winston said on Instagram Live, via Greg Auman of The Athletic. "There's a proverb: Humility comes before honor. I have to humble myself. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be with Drew Brees and to be with the New Orleans Saints and just prepare for when my next opportunity is going to present itself."
Winston signed a one-year deal with the Saints, forfeiting an opportunity to possibly win a starting job elsewhere. Instead, he will battle Taysom Hill for the No. 2 job, while redefining his game under the tutelage of Payton and Brees.
Calling the Saints quarterback room "a Harvard education at quarterback school" didn't appear to be a subtle jab at Bruce Arians and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching staff, although it's understandable if Winston felt that way. In his first and only year with Arians, Winston led the NFL in passing yards (5,109) and threw a career-high 33 touchdowns, but also threw 30 interceptions, becoming the first quarterback to have a 30-touchdown, 30-interception season.
The Buccaneers quarterback room is nothing to slouch at. Arians has been called the "quarterback whisperer" (after resurrecting Carson Palmer's career with the Arizona Cardinals and serving as part of the braintrust that developed Peyton Manning), while quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen was largely responsible for the development of Andrew Luck when he was with the Indianapolis Colts. Tom Moore (who was with Tampa in OTAs and training camp) was the offensive coordinator for the Colts for 12 seasons (1998 to 2010) and was partially responsible for grooming Manning into one of greatest quarterbacks ever.
Perhaps another year with Arians and company would have paid huge dividends for Winston, but he'll get the opportunity to resurrect his career in New Orleans. Winston couldn't pass up the chance to work with Brees and pick his brain.
There appears to be no animosity toward his time with the Bucs either.
"(There) was no better position than to be in the same room with someone I've really looked up to, someone I've admired since I've been playing this game in Drew Brees," Winston said. "I've done some great things with the Bucs. I'm going to miss being a starting quarterback. But you never know what happens. I think this is a great and unique step to join Drew Brees and (the Saints) and learn from him."

Another unpopular take- you don’t owe the Chargers anything, cheer for whatever you want. No guilt required. If it comes down to Bolts vs Colts I’ll probably root for Rivers because he’s my favorite athlete and he only has a few years left.
