The highest paid players in the league make about twice that much, and many of them have never been part of a Championship Team. FVV earned his money by coming up huge in the Conference and NBA Finals, and then following it up with a fantastic first year as a starter. He didn’t make the All-Star Team last year, but came close (10th number of votes in Conference). Only 12 players from the Conference make the A-S Team, and the Raptors already had 2 shoo-ins, so it was a tall task for them to be awarded a 3rd from the team. He’ll have some elections in his future though. If the Raptors didn’t give him that money, someone else surely would have. He’s a key piece to their future, especially as Lowry inches closer to retirement... So he was not an all-star. I had no idea that was what the league was paying those guys. Good for him. An Undrafted player too. Keep in mind they are playing 82 games in the regular season, so in comparison to what some guys in other sports are getting paid for 16 games, it’s really not that much.

Ibaka signs with the Clippers My first reaction was anger. But then I began to understand. He took a back seat to Gasol once he arrived, so certainly owes the Raptors no loyalty. I never agreed with him getting pushed to the 2nd Unit, but it obviously worked out, and he was a professional about it. It was not the easiest situation with the contract. He’s on the wrong side of 30, and they need to keep cap space open for next year, when a much greater FA class will be out there. On a personal level, going to the Clippers gives him a better chance at a Championship next year, and maybe he’ll get some better TV exposure with his cooking show. It stings to lose him, but when him & Kawhi both opt out of their player options next year (after another 2nd round exit), and return to the Raptors together in 2021 it’ll all be a distant memory...

FVV is a nice player but the eastern conference is much weaker. Easier to be an all star from the East than the west Easier ? Yes Easy ? No. There are only 12 roster spots, and 2 of those were justifiably taken up by his teammates. 2019/2020 was also his first season as a starter. He’ll get plenty of All Star selections before his career is up.

Talking $$, Gordon Hayward got $120m for 4 years!!! There are guys I’ve never heard of getting $20m a year. NBA is cray cray There is no logical explanation for going to Charlotte, other than getting overpaid to do so. That’s exactly what happened, and while he’s a quality player, Boston won’t miss him much...

Marc Gasol to the Lakers? If you want a 36 year old, who puts up 6 points and 3 assists per game while logging starter minutes, he’s your guy !

Raptors picked up Aron Baynes (yes I am stoked)
9 three-pointers made in a single game last season....as a Center.
Chris Boucher extended as well (my 3rd Favorite Raptor), so between those 2 we’re good with the bigs.

His other brother is already with him on the Bucks. Plus, the Bucks can pay him $83 million more than any other team with sufficient cap space can even offer. Good luck
