Not to me. OT and CB had to be addressed first. Using one of the 3rd round picks on a wideout? Sure, why not. I would have been good with using one of the 3rd round picks on an edge rusher as well. Those were both needs, but not huge needs like OT and CB, and finding difference makers at left tackle and CB are much rarer in the 3rd round than finding a solid / difference making WR. Its not logical to you ? They took the WR next. If they were good at LT and CB, who would they have taken first ? A punter ?  In the world if "IF"? Sure. A HOF punter can win some games for us.

The raiders are the rare group that selected Ray Guy as a punter in the first round. He's also the only punter in the Hall of Fame. If you are going to do it, he better be damn good !

Will there be the same litmus test for Palmer that we have for Murray? The guy was a rookie for gosh sakes under a terrible head coach and overrated (by some) DC. Gus Bradley sucked balls for us. His conservative bend but don't break, doesn't have a blitz in the playbook philosophy took a top ten talented defense and produced mediocrity. His only saving grace is that he is taking his ball sucking the the Las Vegas Raiders. They want to know if I'M being to hard on someone. Wow.

He is ? He wasn't last year. You can HOPE he is, but as of this hour, he isn't. Yes, I think Murray is worth the trade up cost. Clearly you do not. I agree with Disc on Murray being worth the trade up. Don't look at this trade as "giving up a second round draft pick"- Murray WAS our second pick, just as a second rounder would've been. We only gave up a THIRD round pick to move up and get him. So is the #23 player worth the #37 and #71... yeah, highly likely. Murray had 107 tackles, one sack and three pass deflections. The two players selected at those other spots combined for 80 tackles, one sack and zero other stats. (I know there are tons of variables beyond stats like positions and teams but still.) Plus we get a fifth year option. Lastly, to those saying he wasn't all that last year- he was a rookie! No matter the draft capital, no one should expect a rookie to play lights out (although Herbert did ). Top picks are spent on players who have the traits that can be developed- their ceilings, not just how they play currently- their floors. And despite last year's coaches inability to develop players, Murray did get better as the season went on and is poised to step up even more. I am excited to see him play this year, and I'll eat these words if he isn't a- I'll dare say it- pro bowl caliber player!

I don’t see it with Bulaga’s contract/cap hit and the likely cost. But for the right price... Bulaga’s contract is always an obstacle for 2021. He’ll probably get better offers elsewhere because of that. |

My son's middle school is literally across the street from it. The Falcon's are in cap hell. They don't have enough space to sign all their rookies yet. They drafted Pitt's instead of Justin Fields because they think they can still win Matt Ryan. Ryan and Julio eat up half of their cap space. They have to move one and on draft day it became clear which it would be. They are just wanting until June 1. My guess is that they get pennies on the dollar.

Murray showed signs that he could be THAT guy, just not consistently enough. He seems to have all the attributes and if Staley can create a plan for him that takes advantage of what he does best he may be a more consistent difference maker. Signs ? Ryan Leaf put on a QB jersey as a "sign" of he could be THAT guy. Signs are for protests. We need ballers. Well, I need ballers. How much coffee did you have before you posted this? |
