Seriously... Notice Colin didn't talk about his playoff record. Bill Parcells has a Superbowl and Garrett does not... Brady was a late late round QB and has how many rings? The QB excuse is bad... Again, as Colin says, Garrett had Romo, Dak, Zeke, an all pro oline, and Dez. How'd they do in those playoffs again? Jerry Jones and Texas as a whole is another bad excuse. So he can't handle the pressure? Just say NO to the clapper... AF.....you won't like anyone they hire not named Meyer. Not true, I've given a couple lists now and there is more than one name on it. Garrett is more of the same I guarantee it.

Well I don't want to be a Chicken Poster, so here's my list- - Brian Daboll
- Robert Saleh
- Pep Hamilton
- Jack Del Rio
That's not to say there aren't others who may get hired and I'd be happy with, just a short list off the top of my pre-coffee-in-the-morning head.
Note that I do NOT have the aversion some do about promoting Coordinators/Asst Coaches to be a first time Head Coach. Almost EVERY single current NFL head coach was given their start from this path. (Look it up!) Of course there's the cliches (right and/or wrong) about "been there done that" with McCoy, Lynn, etc., but that is countered with the cliches (right and/or wrong) about "re-tread" Head Coaches who failed before and will just fail again. There are numerous examples of either cliche proving the point, and just as many proving it wrong.
So I'm not against a 'first-time' head coach, but I certainly wouldn't mind someone with head coaching experience!
I also have two people on my brief list that have a "defensive background" when the consensus is we should get an offensive minded head coach because of Herbert. That's an over-rated, even moot, consideration. A head coach better be able to coach and manage every phase of the game, and especially hire and manage experts to focus on those phases specifically.
Lastly there a re a few people rumored to be in the next head coach candidate pool that I do NOT want any part of- Josh McDaniels and Jim Harbaugh! No, not now, not ever, never!
Names I left off my list because I think they are just not obtainable (and I may or may not want them anyway)- Cowher, Belichik, Urban Meyer, Vince Lombardi.

I like most of your list. I would add Matt Eberflus to Saleh & Dabol. Eberflus is one of those guys who will watch the little things. For previous head coaches, I would take Garrett over Del Rio. Harbaugh is a no from me too. Promoting college coaches has a worse track record than promoting coordinators, but I would also be fine with Meyer.

I’m still doing research, and I concede that this is pretty unsettled, but here’s how I would cluster and tier the candidates so far: 1: Bill Belichick 2: Brian Daboll; Jim Harbaugh; Jason Garrett; Jim Caldwell 3: Brian Kelly; David Shaw; Arthur Smith; Robert Saleh 4: Matt Eberflus; Brandon Staley 5: Matt Campbell; Joe Brady; Eric Bieniemy; Pat Fitzgerald Just to keep myself honest, I’m bringing forward the above. Right now, based on everything I’ve read, watched, and gleaned from what’s available, here’s my current ranking: 1. Belichick (yeah, yeah, it’s a dream) 2. Jim Harbaugh; Brian Daboll; Jason Garrett 3. Arthur Smith; Brian Kelly; Dave Toub

I would give Eric "Sleeping with" Bienemy A shot, but he is not on the top of my list. I think he gets to much credit for reed and mahomes greatness.
And thank goodness for no interest in McDaniel, that hack should not get another shot.
Meyer Jack DelRio
Daboll Robert Salah
Pep Hamilton would be my flyer before Bienemy

Can you guys tell me why you like Jack Del Rio ?
I'm not attacking or anything, I would just like to hear the case for him.

In my case he has the experience of being a head coach , the players he has coached play hard for him. Took Oakland to 12-4 in 16-17 Last 6 years till this year he coached within the AFC West (3 as Denver DC, 3 as Oakland HC) so he knows the division. So-Cal roots as a USC grad so he knows what playing in LA and the market.

What would you say if I told you Del Rio and Garrett have near the same playoff record and Del Rio did it with an arguably less talented team? Look it up... I'm not on the Del Rio bandwagon because he is more of the same. PASSSSSSS.... Garrett's ONLY positive stat is his regular season record... Which means diddly squat to me.

That's a fair question, Freak, and I think jwr10x gave a good succinct answer of his own but here's mine: He's a tough hombre, very experienced, mostly successful at everything he's done, seems like a good character guy and above all has the mentality I've described in previous posts that I want my Chargers team to emulate from their leader/head coach. Not only has the Washington Redsk, errr, Football Team, thrived under his defensive mentorship but read this brief article about him and tell me what's not to like?: www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/01/06/call-jack-del-rio-ron-rivera-may-be-biggest-reason-washington-won-nfc-east/

Why do people want more of the same? Jason Garrett has a career record of 87 - 70 (.544) and is 2-3 (.400) in the playoffs never making it out of the divisional round. At least Norval took us to the AFCCG... Garrett couldn't do that with Dallas.
