I understand Brown's motivations. I also understand Brown is talented, but no way a trade doesn't include an extension. A very expensive extension..... Drafting Slater or Darrisaw has your LOT on an ELC one year behind your QB Herbert. Not a chance in heck I give 13th overall for Brown. I am very impressed you outlined the other side of the argument. Getting that LT under a rookie contract is huge. Its just knowing that he is THAT LT that makes it tricky. Yep, tricky as it gets, but that is why owners pay those GM's the big dollars.

The nerve of some people! The village never ceases to amaze. Why have you not amazed your way to the auto parts store, and then to the shipping site......preaching about giving, then this weak effort.

If as many on here claim, defence wins championships, then it must be a certainty the 13th pick will go to help Staley create a strong defence.
Edge, CB or even ILB......are all in the need.

Another possibility: package a swap of 1st rounders and throw in one of their two 3rd round picks with the Ravens for Brown (solving the long-standing OT problem) and then use the Ravens pick for a defensive player as you suggested.

One tiny aspect you failed to accomplish......extending Brown. Not a chance TT makes a trade without an extension. Not sure why the Ravens need to do anything. Player is under contract, play a year, then go be a LOT someplace else.

Creative solution but net cost is still high with the Brown extension. Unless there’s uncertainty about the OTs likely to be available at the pick then going with the draft seems the better option.

As much as we question some of TT's moves over the years he is miles above Bill O'brien and would not make a simular mistake 2. Ravens will only get a comp 3rd for him if he walks after next year.

One year out of a very unhappy player and get an end of the 3rd round pick in the 2023 draft in return for him. It sounds like the Ravens are looking to get an asset(s) for him in 2021, but we shall see.

Someone is giving them a first for him. The Ravens aren't playing "give up Brown just to move up in the first round". To further tell you how good he is, the Steelers historically draft, and THEY are talking to the Ravens about Brown. Their division rival, they see Brown twice a year, so they know how good he is.

And a mid-3rd round pick. It’s only a possible option other than directly trading the 13th pick outright if teams are hesitant to trade their 1st round pick and pay a huge extension during a year where the salary cap has shrunk by 10%. How are the cap-hemorrhaging Steelers going to manage that? If they’re going to trade Brown to an arch rival, then the arch rival is going to have to overpay by a good amount.

You sadly have a Telesco/Spanos tight cheap money outlook. That's not an insult, its just your lawyer way about you. Let me welcome you to 2021. As only I your Emperor can do. Deshaun Watson. You've heard the trade talks. Do you know what the asking price is from Houston ? They are throwing out WITH HIS 4 TRILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT mind you: 3 First Rounds picks, and 2-3 starters off of your current roster. THINK OF THAT FOR A MINUTE !!!!!! You think the Ravens are going to swap you first round positions for the most coveted LT in both college and the NFL ?!?!?!?!?! I'm sorry but cheap gets the phone hung up on them. You pay to play at the top.
