One trend to take into account is that more and more of the wide receivers in this league are less the tall "jump ball" type like a Mike Williams and instead are the smaller speed types like those taken in the 1st round of this draft. Asante Samuel Jr fits that mold to be able to cover those type outside. That's a good point. Everyone had us in need of a true #3 when I watched the mocks. That's why we drafted a WR. But Palmer is more in line with MW than a speedy shifty WR.....is he not?

If our offensive line is as advertised that alone makes us elite. Guys -- do you remember our offensive line last year? I was listening to Chris in the chargers pod, Sam tevi, we had not only the worst offensive line by far in the league we had a left tackle that was rated worst, by many points - in the league and yet Herbert excelled!!!! He broke records!! Like!! Wow You know, that’s why I thought Lynn would stay. He did a great job designing a system where Herbert excelled despite the obvious and glaring problems at oline. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for the change, but I don’t think that kind of success with that distinct lack of talent up front is easily replicated. AL was released because he failed at far too many aspects expected from a HC.

Lol that was me!
I stand by it until they prove me wrong... I do like Palmer a little more than when I first heard the pick though...
I seem to be the whipping post for certain members...... Are you ready to proclaim Palmer the #2 WR yet? Is he the clear cut #3 now? I vote #3.
In fact, all the players have to get on the field and earn their slot on a new team with new coaches, schemes and many new teammates. This ain't the 2020 Chargers in 2021. A lot of the vets are clear front runners but none should discount the need to meet new challenges.

Items of note... Slater is recognized for handling Chase Young as mentioned above, and Josh Palmer is recognized as beating Surtain Jr. I find it funny people take measurements over game tape. That's so ridiculous. Just because you're huge like Leaf doesn't mean you throw like Peyton. We got the oline with the best overall TAPE. ACTUAL game performance. Who cares who's di*k is bigger show me is owning all the ladies amirite? And we only got him because of other trades and the most QB hungry draft we've ever seen. And unlike the bears, we have draft picks next year hahaga It’s funny you mention the bears, if I’m a bears fan and fields becomes their own version of dak prescott, then they won’t give rip about next year's picks. They have a very strong roster already and they could win the NFC north if rodgers walks. the chargers were in a similar predicament but in a different way. The chargers already having the stud QB but also not in a position to trade away future assets on a team that is retooling and needs all of it’s draft picks to become a stronger roster.

I don’t think anyone here knows enough about the inner workings of the Chargers to say that. Lynn had a lot of warts but that offense was very productive under him and it might not be easy to replace.

Chargers getting love from PFF is weird. On the old CMB pff was widely discredited as a source. I guess it’s the old, if they same good things about us, they’re geniuses. If they criticize us, they’re morons

Lynn had a lot of warts but that offense was very productive under him and it might not be easy to replace. Herbert was very productive as a rookie when Anthony Lynn was the HC. True. Herbert will never be a rookie again, also true. Odds are excellent that the O will be different this year under OC Lombardi with a new & superior OL. For starts, I expect that we'll have an improved running game. I believe Herbert will play on a team that has a better W-L result. I do not believe that he regress as a QB.

Pretty happy with this draft...
So glad TT has learned from his prior mistakes. Slater is a great technician and the most Day 1 ready OT of the draft. Do I worry about his arm length...? Yes. But his footwork is wonderful and he uses his hands to defeat pass rushers like a ready-made pro. Lombardi may have led us to a Lombardi. (Disclaimer: no crack was used in the writing of this post.)
Just as I suggested (no research needed for those of you that are too lazy) Asante Samuels Jr. would be the pick if he was still available. Good cover skills, instincts, and smarts. PON meet BPA.
I could write more... but then I'd be ranting.
