Bradwell had no preseason his rookie year, remember? And he DID show me something this year even tho he only got 5 carries with the 3rd stringers in 3 games. nobody did more with less than bradwell this preseason, his STs play was fantastic too. his goaline TD and the two rushes that came before that are the best runs any charger RB put on film in the preseason (ekeler didn’t play) and that includes the two long scampers roundtree had with the second team offensive line where he had huge holes to run thru. Ekeler was a standout in training camp before preseason games started. There was a buzz going on about him when I got to a training camp practice that summer, and it’s obvious now why that was. Bradwell has showed promise as a power back, but I don’t remember anything that really stood out at the joint practice which was really the only full-go training camp sessions this summer. I have a feeling that he’ll get his chance this season, but I believe that his receiving abilities leaves him as a one-dimensional player when he’s in the game. Darius bradwell was not asked to catch the ball out of the backfield in college (only 57 receptions in 4 years) but that doesn’t mean he can’t catch. That’s like justin herbert has never played under center so he can’t learn the nuances of a pro style offense talk. He hasn’t been given the chance to show any of it. One of the things I like about his resume was that he was a highschool quarterback, he threw for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior. Because he was a quarterback he also has a different understanding of the game than your average runner. I don’t know about you guys but I still remember the crazy advantage LT created for our offense when defenses knew he could pass the ball. Bradwell has good hands, watch the crazy catch he made low and behind him and inches off the ground in the San Francisco preseason game. He showed hands, catching radius, and the ability to adjust to the ball in the air, plus the athleticism to contort his body to make the grab. Another stat for him is no fumbles in 446 total touches in college. Also because he’s 6’1” tall he is a bigger target in the passing game in case herbert needs to throw it higher to get it over a defensive lineman.

I'm just going by what I saw in training camp this August. If Bradwell is a good receiver, I'd expect to have seen him catch a few passes in one of the three training camp sessions I saw him in like all the other backs (except Justin Jackson who was injured, of course). I don't recall any. Bradwell's big issue his rookie training camp was he came in 20 pounds overweight, but Anthony Lynn took an interest in him and gave him a chance to work off the weight during the course of training camp and he eventually made the practice squad. He obviously kept his weight in check this past offseason, but there has to be a reason why the current coaching staff has had him on the practice squad the first five weeks of the season behind all the other backs who are very good receivers. Since I didn't see Bradwell catch a pass during team drills or during preseason games this summer to my recollection, my educated guess is that his receiving skills are limited.

Look, Kelley and Rountree haven’t shown anything special. I’d love it if we had a guy on our PS who had something more than what they’ve shown. Love to see it but I doubt we will barring injury

Love to see it but I doubt we will barring injury Roundtree looks slow me, I wonder if he's not the slowest back on the roster? I know his RAS scores were bad and you can see it, he takes a while to hit the crease in running plays and defensive backs have time to recover when he comes out and catches one. I like him in between the tackles on short yardage plays and I think he’s good in pass protection and STs. JJ I’ve always defended over the years and I think he’s really really talented but I’ve grown frustrated with the injury situation, I don’t think he can be counted on and the injury thing seems to get worse every year. kelley I honestly think has all the physical tools to be really solid in the NFL, his instincts seem bad tho, and he looks panicked at times like the stage is too big for him. He makes a lot of mistakes in pass protEction too and that’s one of the reasons he's been inactive the whole year except for the browns game. I don’t need to talk about bradwell, I think you guys know I like the kid a lot.

HAVE to be able to catch with a star like Herbert back there. Off to the practice squad. Don't call us, we'll call you.

Did he leak the Gruden emails ? Is he a part owner of a casino with insider NFL information ?

Bradwell belongs to a very small group of guys that have been protected multiple times on the practice squad, merrill and paisan are already on the roster, facyson is already on someone else roster, moore (6th time) and bradwell (3rd time) lead the rest of the practice squad in protection designations and it’s not because they suck or because bradwell can’t catch

Hilarious, ‘no hands bradwell’ off of one post joe made While you are slobbering on him, he is in a weak RB pool and is sent to the practice squad. Does that make sense to you ? What's the reason ? No hands is better than your no answer.

I don't think it's fair to say whether Bradwell can/can't catch. I don't think it's fair to say whether Kelly can/can't run.
They haven't been given the opportunity to prove one way or the other. I'm waiting for a larger sample size before I make a judgement. The only things we know for sure... we were lucky to get AE as an UDFA... Justin Jackson can't stay healthy... our OL sucked last year.
Everything else is unknown and only a guess.
