Don't forget field goals give you points too! While the analytics supported going for it, and Staley clearly wants to be aggressive, I think Staley is evolving on this issue. I get the feeling he will be more sensitive to the nuance of just putting points on the board, even though that decision is going against analytics, and his own preferences. I also would not be surprise to see an attempt to gain a new set of downs from the FG set......

The bolts probably would have a trophy or two in the cabinet and a shiny new stadium in SD.

If you want to go for it barely out of FG range, that's different than taking points off the board. Our new kick returner should have slapped him. 80 yard run = NO points.
