Fluker has been with how many teams compared to Star? No def not on the Davis vs. Polamalu level, but I stand by my statement regarding Fluker. Star was the better pick for us and I won't even admit hindsight, I've been saying it since 2013. I enjoy your posts but your hatred of Telesco effects your objectivity. People bang on Telesco for drafting Fluker who most projected to play guard (they were right) but then give him no credit for Slater (who was also seen as an NFL guard). The logic seems to be that Slater fell to us. Same thing with Herbert and James. I am on record stating that Herbert underperformed in college and was a boom or bust NFL prospect. Telesco was right and I am happy to admit that I was dead wrong. Fluker has started 96 games in the NFL, Star 99. Neither of them have sniffed the Pro Bowl in that time. They both fall under the serviceable category. That in and of itself makes them better than 70% of the guys drafted around them. I’m not on the fire Telesco train. His record is middling but I am also aware if we replace him, the odds of improving are identical to the odds of declining. I think he has acquired enough talent to compete. There were quite a few seasons where injuries crippled playoff caliber teams. I happen to agree with the team’s approach of not overspending on other teams’ free agents. He took too long to fix the oline. His 3rd to 5th round picks have to get better. I believe that’s a big part of our special team woes. I’ve been a Mike Williams supporter since day one and am flabbergasted when I see fans on social media criticizing Telesco for not extending him prior to the season. Most of those guys were slamming Telesco for picking up the 5th year option. My single biggest issue with the Chargers the past 15 years are the head coaches. Norv suck balls. McCoy’s balls never dropped. Anthony Lynn’s wife keeps his balls in an urn over the fireplace. So far, Staley wants the entire world to know that he has big swinging balls and loves to show them off even if it’s at a baby shower. I believe that the coaches are more a Spanos decision that a Telesco decision. If that’s the case, shuttling the GM will do little to keep the Bolts from “Chargering”. SDC is killing it with this assessment......absolutely spot on.

Maybe I just see Telesco differently... And for the record, I don't "hate" Telesco I just think his philosophy and GM'ing style sucks. To me he is an average GM that can be average for an owner that accepts that result, sorry just my opinion.
I think people focus too much on Herbert, Bosa, James and now Slater inflating what he has actually done as GM. But at the end of the day you can't argue they were great picks... Especially Herbert and Slater (so far).
As far as Slater projected as a GUARD? I never heard this anywhere, not saying it isn't true, I personally just NEVER heard this and even if it was true it means diddly in comparison to Fluker.
I was not on the Herbert train either and wasn't impressed by his bowl game... Glad that draft pick worked out the way it did!
Mike Williams was fire at the beginning of the season and then fizzled out as the season progressed... I called that. I like him as he does know the playbook and he does make good plays, he's just inconsistent and not worth 15 million dollars.
I think TT purposefully goes after projects instead of guys that will be good on special teams, just my opinion. But I agree, 3-5 need to get better.
Coaching during his tenure speaks for itself, McCoy, Lynn, and now Staley have nothing in common and don't show any kind of culture TT or Spanos want to implement... All 3 coaches are totally different.
We'll see how it goes...
AF, I think where you go wrong on TT is everything is about drafting, or FA signings......being the GM is bigger than those two items. TT is a very solid GM, Spanos would be stupid to fire him. Seriously... Everything is about drafting and FA because nobody goes on a message board to talk about anything else. Negotiating contracts is important, but doesn't take a rocket scientist. I think where you go wrong is that you set this precedent with yourself that you have to defend TT no matter what, anything else and you have this contrarian attitude... You conveniently ignore the areas where I give TT the benefit of the doubt, and focus on my criticisms. Its like you and SDC take this criticism personally or something. Sorry you feel that way, but oh well...

Tick tock on the clock. Because in 12 months if Herbert is not in the playoffs firing him is exactly what will happen. Did I say exactly ? Exactly.

Sorry you feel that way, but oh well... Well AF, there are plenty of topics discussed on this board, and not all revolve around FA's or Drafting. If the club did a poor job of managing the Cap, there would be no 'sign him TT' comments, and if there was, it would instantly be followed by 'we are broke' and complaining about being broke. Scouting, Admin staff, Training staff, Analytics staff, Video Staff.....on and on it goes, all with a budget, all needing to be managed properly. I do not defend TT, I defend his efforts. I get you want improved drafting and FA decisions, but I can assure you every single decision they have made was well thought out....and believed to be the best decision. Clearly they were not, but every club in the league misses. Nothing you post I take personally. I like your skepticism about TT, it keeps us all honest to a degree. Keep posting, your posts are good for the board!

That is true, criticizing TT for DJ's injuries is not fair. Or Lamps....... that light is out. Leave it alone.

There is a difference, as I do not know TT, so could not possibly know his actual style of managing and whether it was worth defending. I do feel that I understand the path that plenty of the decisions take, and I support those efforts. Could they improve, yes.....and in my view (completely unfair) I would remove J Spanos from the chain. I have always felt ownership involved in the process mucks up the process, resulting in missed opportunities or poor decisions.

I defend the process, led by TT currently, not TT the person. You want to crucify TT based off of not going to the Super Bowl......every season. Might as well fire 30 GM's each year.......

You always have this counter argument with such extreme takes. Its hard to take you seriously, its like debating a wet noodle... Do you really think I expect TT to take us to the Superbowl every year? Like really? Besides, who is talking about TT as a person? Nobody... If you like TT as a GM and think he makes great moves then just say it and stand by it, don't gaslight us with all the other nonsense.
No offense with the wet noodle jab... I got friggin covid...

No offence taken, ever..... I meant every season you want to crucify TT for the lack of Super Bowl...... I think it is pretty clear I like the job TT has done, as I constantly tell everyone TT isn't getting fired.

Every season it seems like the Chargers are considered a PO likely club....that is outside pundits predicting, and they are basing it off of rostered players and coaching. It isn't the GM that is failing this organization.....
