It's funny how people can so easily disparage people they don't even know. Are you projecting your personal characteristics on Mike Williams? Are you an inherently lazy person that will do the minimum until it's time to elevate your effort in order to get paid? I don’t read his post that way at all. What is the part that is disparaging or projecting on MW his “personal characteristics?” I read the post as saying they wouldn’t re-sign MW based on past performance and guessing, perhaps cynically (though hardly without precedent), that he wouldn’t be worth the money in terms of future performance. Isn’t that just nominally player evaluation? He clearly stated that Williams stepped up during a contract year and will disappear when he gets paid. I’m calling bullshit. I haven’t seen his discretionary effort change even going back to his time in Clemson. I see his peers (namely Allen and Herbert) constantly complimenting him. His biggest concern is his health because he will put himself at risk laying out to catch balls. This season was a result of coaches utilizing him not because a lazy player decided to play to get paid. Ludicrous.

I'm leery of the other side of the coin: He CLEARLY had his best year in his contract year. Not before then either. That's not an indication he won't "keep it up", but it is a fact on it's own.

Are you guys signing Mike Williams ? Contract Projection: Four years, $68 million ($17M per year, $38 million total guaranteed) Are you still signing Mike Williams ? Talking heads projections aside, I am interested in signing MW.....but what are the terms. KA's contract is up in two seasons, he will be thirty..... Palmer keeps developing....he will cost..... Plenty will go into the MW decision.

MW clearly had his best year with the new HC Staley.......and I wonder if targets leveled off between KA and MW this past season under Staley? I've got no issue with a critique of Mike Williams. I know that some hold him to a higher level due to where he was drafted. I don't. He is not sudden and has opportunities in getting separation. His style of play will always make him an injury concern. Personally, I think he is a perfect compliment to Keenan's style of play and it's clear that Herbert trusts him. I do think that we need a burner. Maybe Guyton continues to develop but with Justin's cannon of an arm we really could use someone to take the top off of the defense. As for Mike, this season was his second 1000 yard season and he has a 10 TD season. He really didn't see much of the field his first two years because of the back but has been solid the past three years. To me he appears to be ascending. I know that many are on the Davante Adams' train. If we bring in Adams, who in the #1? I know that Keenan and him are buds but they both have alpha egos. That needs to be factored in. They also have similar games. Lastly, Adams is looking to cash in on his third contract, and I'm guessing he will cost $4-$5 million a year more than Big Mike. Also look at highly productive WR's and their production after that 3rd contract. Julio Jones, AJ Green, etc. That's a lot of miles on the tread. The risk is one or two years of production then a big drop off as the skills erode. My issue is questioning Williams' work ethic or character. I've seen nothing from him going all the way back to Clemson that would give me any inclination that the dude doesn't give it his all every time he steps on the field.

Let him walk and take the comp pick in '23. This year was pretty much MW best year. Was it a contract year or Herbert. My guess is he stepped it up during the contract year and will disappear when he gets paid. It's funny how people can so easily disparage people they don't even know. Are you projecting your personal characteristics on Mike Williams? Are you an inherently lazy person that will do the minimum until it's time to elevate your effort in order to get paid? Its funny how folks can be critical of others then proceed to perform the same acts that are being criticized.

Unless they can reach terms on a 3-4 year deal with MW my sense is that he’ll get the franchise tag. It’ll cost a few $M more, but they have plenty of cap space and they’ll get to see how it goes in Staley year 2 to work on a deal accordingly. Hard to see why they let him walk now.

We desperately need a speed guy. In fact, we need team speed all over the field. Our LB’s and DL should be the focus. Another CB wouldn’t hurt.
As for big Mike, of course he should come back. Only issue is having $40m of the payroll wrapped up in 2 starting WR’s.

I'd keep Williams for no more than 12 million. I'd take Godwin over Adams, we don't need 2 30 year old recievers... Godwin and Palmer for the future with maybe another draft pick in 2023.

Well, Adams is the best WR in the National Football League. But I guess we can't have nice things. Nice things like if Rodgers goes to Denver we should take Adams. That kind of nice things.

That would be $18,816,000 for MW for one year.

Kyzir White's contract is up too ............................................... I'd let him walk. Clearly, he decided to finally start playing in a contract year. I'm sure he will disappear as soon as he gets paid.
