To be fair the coupon tom moniker could be slapped on the Spanos ownership, because until this year it has always been the perception that we don't go get really expensive top tier free agents.
Given the green light he has gone way beyond anything this organization has seen as long as I have been a fan and that's 1978.
ALL IN
uh huh ............................................ You mean David Boston? not even close
Or are you referring to my youthful exuberance not jibing with my age?
Well When I was 8 years old I decided to pick a team, the lightening bolts reminded me of Hermes, and watching Fouts chuck the ball down the field made the chargers my team from then until now. \
Good day Sir!

2001 off season. Trading away the first pick to net Ladanian Tomlinson and Drew Brees was a pretty good offseason. 2004 off season. Trading Eli Manning for picks that would become Philip Rivers, Nate Kaeding, Nick Hardwick, and Shawne Merriman was a pretty good offseason. Then we got Norved.

I don't get it, I agree with Amped.
IMHO its not even about Coupon Tom, from my point of view we NEEDED the talent to compensate for bad coaching. The one CONSTANT in the TT era has been bad coaching. We've had decent talent, they just hire crap coaches. Is that on TT? Some say no and some say yes...

You have complained non-stop about us not spending on talent. You are on the record that Telesco should be unemployed because of it. Then you complain about giving Mike Williams and Derwin James too much money. With all the WR money that came after we extended big Mike, he looks like a bargain. It's easy to say that we overpaid James. What would you have done, let him walk? Let's say he leaves and the Patriots pay him and he finishes out a HOF career with them. You would lose your mind. I appreciate your football takes but your Viagra level hard-on for Telesco diminishes your opinions this time of year. In your mind, whatever path Telesco goes down it is the wrong one.

Oh come on, you forget your many complaints about TT's work...... Missed draft picks Terrible FA signings Refusing to sign the good FA's..... And of course all those injuries that TT should have known were coming and had solid reserve players waiting to go...... By the way, Owners hire HC's.....

Oh for sure we have killed it on draft day but filling holes with massive free agent signings has not been our way.

The blueprint since FA began is to draft well, reward your own players, and know when to move on. Winning free agency rarely if ever translates to actual winning.

Let me just quote myself and raise the font a little bit... Reread. ok? now lets continue... TT never brought in or paid enough money to bring in the talent we needed until this year. Jury is still out on Mike Williams. My opinion on him has not changed... I don't think he will be worth the paycheck but hopefully I'm wrong. We have the talent now overall though so we'll see what kind of chops Staley actually has.

Yes it was just last year. Yes they are also in LA sharing the same stadium. Have to keep up with the Jones'. It's a copycat league.

It's a copycat league. The Rams went into “win now” mode on steroids and we’re willing to get rid of top draft picks immediately. Gurley and Goff in particular. You seem to see it more now. Thinking of Adam’s, Tyreek, DeShaun, Russell, and our own Mack and JC
