Hindsight here; Why didn't they sign him last year to a reasonable contract, when nobody wanted him on 2nd round tender.

T. Williams got a 4 year deal worth up to a max of $47 million. Overpaid or just right? The guaranteed money is the determining factor in performing that analysis. Overpaid if that $22 million is in fact fully guaranteed.

The chargers probably felt with KA and MW starting and with scott, davis and Cantrell waiting in the wings they didn't need or could afford to pay TW.

We'll need to draft another guy named Williams - don't want to get low on Williams's.

Our comp picks are getting better.

I am not familiar with how the cap works, but IMO it would be better to keep T Will over Benjamin. TT says Chargers like to draft and develop their own players. They spent the time and effort to develop T Will, and now he's gone to the Raiders for nothing

Likely a third round as compensation for losing Williams.

I think TWill is landing in a good spot. Opposite Antonio Brown.
I kind of hate to see him land in our division, since I always liked him, but now have to root vigorously against him. . . .

I guess the best way to look at it is the comp-pick can be used to move up next year for the next franchise QB.
