I think we should suspend Lombardi for two games without pay and cut Herbert for not audibling out of Lombardi stupid play calling. Time to send a message. Pretty sure Staley will do that. I mean you can’t be the aggressive, go for it on the 4th team if your offense is going to use the Anthony Lynn playbook. Do we still have delayed QB sneaks that get stuffed in that playbook for 4th downs ? I mean, I'm a Freak so I personally hope so. We have the the best young strong arm in the NFL, so let's make him run delayed QB sneaks on 4th down.

I was twisting in the wind during the 4th quarter just like everyone else. I was mentally preparing for the Chargers to "Charger" away this victory. At the time I wanted us to push and play much more aggressively. While I still believe that, I have tempered my view a bit. When I was in the corporate world, I spent a significant amount of time working on fixing broken restaurants all over the country. It didn't matter where I went, the problem was almost always the same. Bad losing culture. Its a cancer. It kills morale. It kills enthusiasm. It breaks down good people. These restaurants would go through GM's and the quality of operations would almost always the same. If the new leader cannot change the culture then everything is in vain. From experience, changing a losing culture is one of the hardest things to do on the planet. Cultures outlive individuals. Cultures are resistant to any and all change. Looking at it today, yesterday was a day to begin the paradigm shift of our culture. Watching the talking heads say that we finally demonstrated that we could close a game out is huge. The players see and hear that stuff. We got a lead, sat on it, and fought off a frenetic charge from a very good team. That can't be discounted. This team doesn't necessarily need to learn how to win, but they do need to learn how not to lose games they should win. I, like everyone else, want to see more of that killer instinct, but the way we won yesterday was critically important as well. We closed. Special teams deserve some props for tightening up that unit that has killed us for years. That being said, place kickers were heroes and goats all throughout the league yesterday. Without sounding greedy, have a kicker that is clutch from 60 yards in could end up winning 2 to 3 games over what we currently have. Stupid long kicks made all day long and we miss a 48 yarder that would have only added to the Raiders discomfort. It was good to get the win and hold on. When the score went to 24-19 with 4:32 left I turned to my seat mates at the game and said if 2022 is going to be different we’ll know it in the next 5 minutes. Hope it is because we probably lose this game in 2021. Still, I think we could have won with a cushion Pfffffttttttt. Cushions are for sissies ! We will be FORGED THROUGH ELECTRICITY !!!!!

Just got home myself. Fortunately the turds fans I'd encountered were ok. Save for the usual idiots with their raaaaiiideeeeers calls after losing. This was a game we should have run away with. We looked to be in the 4 minute offense for the last 34 minutes of the game. But a win, thanks to the D and our punt team. Been a very long time since I would have typed that sentence. That raaaiideeeers chant is the worst and some very irritating fan right behind me kept doing it Hahaha that’s awesome

And before our very eyes, we watched Asanti Samuel become his father yesterday. I got a little sentimental. Lowkey I was too, our coach called him with our JR when he gave him that ball and I felt his dad just then. We got so many great players. Samuel said every team would regret letting him slip passed first round. Also, after the game coach admitted he got burned a few times, however that he loves his ability that it doesn’t phase him or scare him, he’ll get in the WR#1 Adams face and take the ball the very next play and that’s why he loves him. Also shout out to the derwin sack. We’ve said all off-season with a an actual backfield we could set derwin lose bring him to the line and use his crazy size and we did. Even without freaking JC Jackson who WILL BE as advised Thursday. Coach is cautious with injuries, I knew JC had no chance of starting even this coach said after the game “some players came up to me personally and said they thought JC looked good “ He always had him back for Thursday.

The effect Derwin James Jr. had for the Chargers in their 24-19 victory went well beyond simple numbers. “You may not see the impact that he has on a stat sheet,” coach Brandon Staley said. “But what you do when you watch the game, you’ll see the impact that he makes. Then, if you’re watching the game live, you feel the impact that he makes too.” James sacked Derek Carr on the Raiders’ second offensive play. He helped take away wide receiver Davante Adams on the Raiders’ final offensive play. In between, James did just about everything else. He played all 58 of the Chargers’ defensive snaps and lined up at five different positions, according to Pro Football Focus. James was deployed at free safety (20 snaps), in the slot (19), in the box (14), along the defensive line (three) and at outside corner (two), PFF reported. “The amount of energy that is required for him in a game plan like that you can’t minimize,” Staley said. “Physical energy. Mental energy. It’s one thing to have the versatility to play all those different places, but can your mind allow you to do that? Can you play all those places and do those jobs well? “That’s why he’s that rare combination and rare leader. He played fantastic. He played a beautiful game for us.” www.latimes.com/sports/chargers/story/2022-09-12/chargers-derwin-james-jr-safety-kansas-city-chiefs-thursday

Good news Lombardi said he fk’d up and was too conservative in the second half.
At least he knows. Cause we can’t have that against Kc

Staley has been gassing Derwin up all off season including during contract talks. He got that early sack and then I don’t think they ever brought him on another blitz?!?!?! I didn’t feel his presence like I did Mack’s. Without JC Jackson, who is covering the back field with derwin at the line? On probably the game's biggest play, DJ was covering All Pro WR Davonte Adams who then couldn't get open while Carr was looking to feed him the ball. That allowed Mack to get home with the game ending sack. When JC Jackson is playing, Derwin won't be locked up on the All Pro WR. Another factor with DJ's lack of activity on blitzes is the fact that the Chargers were getting home all game with a four-man rush and the defensive front was stopping the run. When that is happening, DJ is more valuable in coverage in coverage of Pro Bowl TE's as well as WR's. Even if Jackson plays on Thursday, I don't expect DJ to do a lot of blitzing with Kelce running routs for Mahommes. Bottom line is that it's a guessing game for the opposing O as far as what DJ's role will be play-to-play ... and by the way, DJ played every defensive snap on Sunday.

I'm just basing this on my watching the game, I didn't look up any stats or anything. But I wasn't impressed with our run stopping abilities, especially later in the game. I remember Jacobs ripping runs of almost ten yards a few times and at least one that went for about twenty. I recall thinking "they are still smash-mouthing us". We may have improved our run defense- I mean that's a given- but it still wasn't great. But maybe I'm just remembering a few bad plays and our run defense was better than I'm giving them credit for? Will someone chime in and tell me if I'm wrong about this?
