You would have thought he would have given the chargers this year to prove himself if the money was close as the team has taken care of him since being drafted here. And this team gives him more of a chance at a ring than the 49ers..

At the rate our free agents are signig elsewhere, we'll be hard pressed to put together a good roster. What has Verrett done for the team lately? When has he been available? Was hoping we could give him one more shot but would have had to be super cheap with how fragile he is. Losing him is a non factor ultimately. Doesn't change much. On the defensive side we need help at multiple positions now. DT, FS, and possibly CB as well. I expect Hayward to continue to regress - he's no spring chicken and is already showing signs of weakness in coverage IMO. Losing Philips and/or Philon would create additional voids. TT needs to lock them up unless they're gone already.

If JV holds up for the niners, they got a steal. Chargers have never had a real shut-down corner with his talent. Its a gamble,but if you are a 49ers fan, you gotta love having JV and Sherman as your're corners.

I keep remembering what her played like in college and as a rookie and I was hoping he could get healthy and play like that again. He the one guy we had that may have been able to cover Hill.

Exactly. I thought the Chargers were in trouble before the season started without JV and Hennry out. Two prowl caliber players lost right off the bat. Hard to replace that kind of talent.
