Disappointing, but if they can't beat the Jags without MDub when they otherwise have an ultra-healthy roster, they weren't going to beat KC and Buffalo/Cincy in the next two rounds. We know what Slayer will give us, but it's time for Palmer, Everett, Parham and Carter to BTFU and get us to KC where MDub will be absolutely needed!! Update, MW out for the playoffs with a small fracture in his back And they didn’t find that with the first x-rays? 🤔 Life of a Chargers fan. 😞

Mike Williams Injury: Why Chargers WR Could Return Next Week From Back Injuryby David Chao, MD Jacob Sisneros The Los Angeles Chargers will be without key wideout Mike Williams for the Wild Card matchup against the Jaguars, but he has a chance to return next week if they win on Saturday. Williams is reportedly dealing with a transverse process fracture in his back after taking a hard hit in Week 18. Although the fracture won’t fully heal until after the playoffs, it is not an issue that will be made worse by playing through it, according to the Pro Football Docs. However, it is painful to play through because of the associated muscles and ligaments.
A pain-numbing injection is likely not an option because of the location of the injury and the amount of muscles involved. If Williams plays in the next round, he will likely be dealing with a considerable amount of pain that could limit his effectiveness. New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston reportedly suffered four transverse process fractures in Week 1, but played through the pain and did not miss time. Derek Carr also suffered transverse process fractures in Week 4, 2017, but missed just one game.
Wide receiver is a tougher position to play with this type of injury, but it can be done. The Pro Football Docs were optimistic about his chances to play in the Wild Card matchup after what appeared to be back spasms from a back contusion. This is an instance where video analysis is limited and the diagnosis was wrong. The transverse process fracture was reportedly found on a follow-up MRI when he was not progressing as the team expected.
Typically, this type of fracture is found on imaging. If the imaging is inconclusive, the process is usually repeated.
It’s unclear if this was the case with the Chargers or if the team was being coy with Williams’ status. Either way, Los Angeles will likely need more production from Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter to advance past Jacksonville. sicscore.com/nfl/updates/mike-williams-injury-why-chargers-wr-could-return-next-week-from-back-injury

Van Noy over simplifies it to a degree......but when your club is the inexperienced club, experience doesn't matter. Face it folks, any club can get hot, win four games and a big ring...... It is not like earning a Stanley Cup, where you need to win best of seven, four different times. Cincinnati had virtually zero experience and went to the Super Bowl last year. I have heard ex-players say experience is over rated. Your team is either playing well or it isn't. It isn't/wasn't. I came back to this quote because before the playoff implosion the Chargers played their starters against Denver. Forget that it was a meaningless game for either team. Both played their starters or best available players. Both coaches did their best to win the game (evidenced by no changes in the second half or late game personnel, etc.) And we got outplayed and outcoached. By a team that had a terrible record, but no head coach and nothing to gain. Momentum? Abruptly stopped. Confidence? Greatly diminished. Motivation? Severely questioned. (Because who really wants to play hard for a feckless leader?) This was the precursor to the playoff disaster the following week. The signs were there, probably all year, but definitely in this single game. This one game is a microcosm of Brandon Staley's attempt at being a head coach. Bad preparation, bad luck, bad decisions, bad ideas, bad instincts, bad fit, bad hire. It's Monday and we're on to the next season, just a little bit later than in recent years but with the same feeling in our guts. Maybe we'll get some good news this week, perhaps as early as today. It may change our perspective on the offseason/next season a little. But being a Chargers fan, even that hope is pre-destined to be crushed against the jagged rocks of parsimony and mediocrity.

What specific changes would you like ? Will any changes happen ? I would like Sean Payton. I think they will scapegoat Lombardi.

The last 2 years we are 27th in the league running the ball. THAT HAS TO CHANGE. When you have that kind of lead you have to be able to run the ball in the second half.
Remember this:
You have to be able to run the ball when everyone in the stadium knows you are going to run the ball.
