You heard him! I’m gonna go a step further and say we need better than average we need real talent to pair with Ekeler. I hate to say this but I’m afraid that Herbert isn’t that guy. It may have been the rib injury but I didn’t see that playmaker at QB that I thought we had in many games this season and especially when the chips were down. I’m afraid he’s not at the Mahomes/Burrow level and that’s our competition folks for the foreseeable future. We need a weapon that only requires Herbert to hand the ball off. I'm going to disagree with the QB evaluation that broke records in his first 3 years. 2nd in the league in passing yards with our starters injured ?!?!? I will fully agree with we need an RB1 to pair with Ekeler. I'm with Freak. Never thought I'd say that but here we are. Moekid's take is red red hot. Herbert's performance this year with a bottom 3 rushing team and mostly a practice squad wr corps and a third of a season with busted ass ribs was ****ing amazing. Add in how much Lombardi sucks. I think if we watched 17 games a year of Mahommes and Burrow, we'd see them miss some reads/throws on occasion too. I'm on Herbert's jock for the long haul.

Strap on boys. Enjoy your regular season passing yards and stats. Red flags started to appear when the TD passes disappeared later in the season. Then when u really need your QB to be special, I saw TD passes doinked off helmets or sailed overhead. I’m not happy to say it because in JH’s rookie year I called him the Golden God

We all know how bad the coaching, play calling, and depth is on this team but we blame Herbert??? Nahhhhh....

I’m not blaming him. He’s an excellent qb and we’re lucky to have him. But he needs to be at his best when his best is required as Staley says. And he wasn’t in JaX

I think a number of things can be true, and are not mutually exclusive:
1) LAC running offense was abysmal and forced Herbert to pass more than was ideal in situations they needed to manage/run out the clock;
2) LAC offensive scheming was offensive;
3) Injuries to key players reduced scoring and situational potential;
4) Herbert developed some odd mechanics that caused some real problems (low passes, blocked passes, misses);
5) Herbert is an extraordinary QB and a top-5 talent;
6) Herbert hasn’t shown he can win in the playoffs.

the fact is the last two years we were eliminated from the playoffs because our defense couldn't get a stop.
Herbert is the best QB we have ever had.

Agreed that D fell down, but O was bad when they needed to be good all season. Couldn’t run, couldn’t score. And Herbert probably is the best Chargers QB ever. And like all other Chargers QBs, he’s still sitting at home without a ring. Being a stat king means nothing to me.

An epic failure. I said in the OGDT that the stars need to show up. Did Derwin James do anything of note? Joey Bosa was a liability. I do t remember Mack doing anything g special. Ek scored twice but was way below his average in all purpose yards. Carter went down and Keenan was taken out of the game in the second half. Herbert we’ve discussed. The stars didn’t show up for us in that game. Bosa, James and Mack are all $20m+ guys. Why?

I agree with you amped. Zero turnovers is playoff football. 273 yards, 1 TD. Playoffs are different. The vast majority of QB numbers go down. Mistake free ball is the goal.

Bosa did a pretty good job of pretending his helmet was the ball and he was going to go home with it so no one else could play. Staley DAMN sure wasn't allowed to play with it, that's for sure. Whew. Easy there ya mental freak. (i need to see more of it personally) REACT AS EVERYONE GETS DESTROYED UNTIL OUR RUNNING GAME GETS FIXED. I KID YOU NOT !!!! HEED YOUR LORDSHIP'S WARNING !!!!!

Those of you blaming Herbert for the PO loss are wrong. The failure falls on the coaching staff, HC, OC and DC primarily....they failed to make successful halftime adjustments, and it cost them a game that should have been a win. This particular issue has been around all season, just curious how it is that only Lombardi was held accountable.....
Hire an experienced DC....
