So we are well past most of the big events of the off season, FA and Draft. Time to look at this collection of players, and consider what might they become.
The addition of Moore as OC will undoubtedly become a focus point going forward. So what might we see from Moore's offence?
Are the new Chargers offence a run heavy, pass heavy, 60/40 one way or the other? Grind it out, control the clock type....or big play machine?
So off I went into looking into what makes Moore the coach he is....
Two things i noted.....
Moore is not stubborn, he will adjust away from something that is not working that game.
Moore's playing days were littered with unconventional 'trick' plays called in big moments.
I have a feeling Herbert is going to love Moore's play calling.

The best thing that ever happened to Herbert is Kellen Moore. FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The WR room should be happy as well..... So far he appears to be very fluid. He wants to play to the Chargers strength's on offense, and he is famous for wrinkle plays. He seems to dial them up at the perfect time too. To answer your run/pass ratio. We want it to be better with more runs, but with our personnel, I don't see it. I hope I am dead wrong about that. I still have a theory that we have really good pass blockers, but sup-par run blockers. No one has ever refuted that on here either. Just a working theory of mine. I mean, what would I know. Right ? (heh heh heh.............................................)

The whole 'trick' play history got me looking closer at his Dallas days.....he doesn't seem to employ them at all. My guess is the pro players are just too talented, they read that stuff fast and are able to react before getting burned.
As far as your point on the OL run blocking goes, I want to say it was more scheme than talent.....
You might be right, there will be a first time.....

HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT I AM NOT RIGHT 100% OF TIME, EVEN WHEN I AM NOT !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Oh, are all our hopes on Spiller ? Oh, when can we run a game down up 27-0 ? Oh, is Bosa mentally prepared to have a break out season ??

This is a great post frozen and something I have been thinking about... So what now? How does this team stack up to last year when expectations were so high. We didn't make as many big moves and last year was such a let down. Our biggest move was clearly Kellen Moore as OC...
Here is my take but let me perfectly clear, I want this team to succeed and I want Staley to do well. BUT, I just don't see it...
Like freak says, our pass protection is awesome but has the run defense been improved? How will the secondary play?
For me the biggest questions are going to be:
Spiller or Kelley? How does the run defense improve? Can we stay healthy? Which version of Staley do we get? Mr. Analytics or Mr. Conservative Can Moore recreate his success in Dallas?
Again I hope we go all the way to the Superbowl, but my bold take based off everything so far is another 1 and done playoff and below average run defense. Staley will be let go and Moore will take over. TT keeps his job.
I think Staley tries to herd these cats with feel good motivational tactics but in the end its not enough...
I have spoken.

We were 31st in the NFL in run to pass ratio last year. 36.2%-run 63.8%-pass
Thirty freakin' first in the NFL !!!!!!!
THAT has to change. It just has to. When it doesn't, we are just pissing in the wind. Believe your Overlord when he tells you this.

@ 60 pass / 40 run in the season. We're LOADED with receiver talent and a top QB. It would be a crime against nature to not feature our strength. Still the run has to make it's presence known. Being totally one sided is easier to defend. "Trick" plays that we aren't used to seeing are going to happen. They'll seem trick because the offense is having fun being successful in different ways.
