I am not as pessimistic as you. I expect another playoff appearance. But if they somehow don't make it both TT and Staley walk. I think Kelly stays. IMO it is really Spiller vs Rountree and I see Rountree as the odd man out. I don't think Moore can recreate the Dallas success because our TE group is better receiving than blocking. This may not be what you meant, but Moore will have change to using the skills we have instead of recreating Dallas. I have every reason to think the offense will be better under Moore. I honestly didn't even know Rountree was still on the roster, I thought he was on the PS if anything. I think both Kelly and Spiller stay, but who is #2? We could very well take the AFC West... KC lost Smith Schuster and Mecole Hardman. They lost Tyreek Hill and still won the Superbowl so losing those 2 doesn't matter all that much but, we have a chance. Our Wr Corps > KC WR corps... We'll see what happens. But is Staley better than Andy Reid ....

This is a great post frozen and something I have been thinking about... So what now? How does this team stack up to last year when expectations were so high. We didn't make as many big moves and last year was such a let down. Our biggest move was clearly Kellen Moore as OC... Here is my take but let me perfectly clear, I want this team to succeed and I want Staley to do well. BUT, I just don't see it... Like freak says, our pass protection is awesome but has the run defense been improved? How will the secondary play? For me the biggest questions are going to be: Spiller or Kelley? How does the run defense improve? Can we stay healthy? Which version of Staley do we get? Mr. Analytics or Mr. Conservative Can Moore recreate his success in Dallas? Again I hope we go all the way to the Superbowl, but my bold take based off everything so far is another 1 and done playoff and below average run defense. Staley will be let go and Moore will take over. TT keeps his job. I think Staley tries to herd these cats with feel good motivational tactics but in the end its not enough... I have spoken. I actually think you believe the 'media' Staley is what the players get, and that couldn't be further from the truth. Staley is a very solid X's and O's defence coach. Not a chance in heck he makes it to the NFL on rah rah only......

It will take more than that. Call me a pessimist, I'm just being real. This team has some demons to overcome and KC, Cincy, Baltimore, and the Bills will not make it easy. We have the talent, just need to overcome the obstacles plaguing us for years.

@ 60 pass / 40 run in the season. We're LOADED with receiver talent and a top QB. It would be a crime against nature to not feature our strength. Still the run has to make it's presence known. Being totally one sided is easier to defend. "Trick" plays that we aren't used to seeing are going to happen. They'll seem trick because the offense is having fun being successful in different ways. I pretty much agree that the ratio is not relevant, it is more about using the strengths successfully. The right side should see improvement in run blocking now that Zion Johnson has had a year to acclimate. When reading about Moore's college playing days, there was a quote about the trick plays. Something along the lines of 'everyone in the huddle is excited when they hear the call because those calls are so much fun.'........as I posted, not too sure they can be pulled off in the pro game. I do think the O players are going to have fun with Moore as OC.

Good run blocking comes with consistency along the OL, knowing and trusting what your fellow blockers are doing so I hope they have it right. Tapes look like Moore had solid blocking in Dal and our individual personnel are as good or better IMO. As a group, a work in progress.

I did not see that. Wonder why the change.....were they both playing out of their normal position and this is just a correction now that all are healthy? I do not know the more fine points of the game, so legitimate question.....is there a preference to which way a run goes? Such as a right handed QB hands the ball off better on left runs, so that might be the tendency? Or some other influencing aspect.....

I think the idea is he'll be more comfortable on the L side. Run side preference is above my paygrade but my guess is where the OC thinks the blocking matches up with the D best.

Did you just say that our OL is as good or better as Dallas Oline during Moore's years there ? Where is this koolaid shop located because I need gallons of it. (We couldn't run block against our own run defense in practice !! Whew boy !) LT: Tyron Smith LG: Tyler Smith C: Tyler Biadasz RG: Zack Martin RT: Terence Steele Three of these guys are considered in the top of the league, and the other two ain't chopped liver either.
