We've got two run blocking guards in 2023 (Zion and Salyer) after not having a similar pairing of guards over the past 15 seasons since Kris Dielman & Mike Goff were last seen roadgrading in 2008. That and Moore's scheme will make a massive difference in 2023. Bank on it!! Everything I have read about Moore's approach to running is it is pretty basic. Moore seems to put the value in play calling to set up the success for any given play. What does that even mean?

Everything I have read about Moore's approach to running is it is pretty basic. Moore seems to put the value in play calling to set up the success for any given play. What does that even mean? The way I took it was that previous plays set up the following plays. A simplistic example might be on 1st and 10 having a WR run an out pattern that is successful for eight yards. Then they get a first on the next play. So, 1st and 10 again they have that WR run that same pattern, but throw it somewhere else. They maybe even do it again on the next 1st and 10......then the next one they have that same WR run that same pattern, but turn it up field when the CB jumps the break of the WR. I am sure I did not remotely explain that correctly.....but I did it well enough that you get the idea. I am just as certain that it is far more complex than my example. I suspect the value in having Moore will be all about his chess match skills....

Correct me if I am wrong on this, but didn't Salyer play LOT for essentially the entire year last year.....and wasn't he an OT in college that they were kicking inside to OG, but due to injury he was forced to play OT? Which means he still needs to prove his worth at OG.....I have all the confidence in him, just pointing out it still needs to be shown, eh Salyer was deemed to be an NFL guard because of perceived deficiencies as a pass blocker at the NFL level (i.e., lack of arm length). His big strength in college was as a run blocker. He did a fine job of filling in for Slater at left tackle, but his matchup with long-armed Raiders edge rusher Chandler Jones exposed that weakness: he couldn’t get his hands on Jones while Herbert was relentlessly pressured all game long by Jones. Yes, he needs to prove it as a guard in 2023, but I expect Salyer to make another jump this season as he moves to a position that fits his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses at the NFL level. As for Zion, he moves into his college position (left guard) and pairs up with a healthy Slater on his left and Linsley on his right.

Minus the fact that they have sucked ass at it. I hope Kellen fixes it, but I still say we got pass blocking guys versus run blocking guys. If I had to pick I would take the pass blocking guys. He deserves a year to settle into his natural position: Guard

To me it meas we will be healthy all year long and our OC will work some Force like wizardry and make our offense unstoppable with a game points average of 51.

Of course it can. Missouri is the Show Me state.

If the Chargers had a good starting RB they would be much better in the run blocking scores. Anyone can see Ekeler's TD's came off of the back of Herbert and the WR's passing success. TT was very smart in not over paying Ekeler.

TT was very smart in not over paying Ekeler. This is a ridiculous take... Chargers were 3rd best passing attack, 30th best rushing attack, pretty easy to recognize Ekeler's success came off of the efforts of Herbert and the WR group. It clearly is not just the OL, or scheme.....the RB's own the poor results just as much....and Ekeler was the primary guy, right? The defence was too busy covering the WR's, giving Ekeler a bunch of easy TD's.... Ekeler is worth the 6 mil/yr, but not much more..... He will go elsewhere next year, and be mediocre there.
