Time to see what the young safeties have. Keep it simple...? Hasn't simple worked better for us anyways...? Lean on our strengths... QB and a deep squad of WR's. Rush the QB with our OLB's. Find a way to bottle up Jacobs. Losing Linsley is huge, as the OL seems completely lost without his leadership. Keep it simple? The drop off in talent is beyond being helped by simplification..... Buckle up folks.....

Buckle up folks..... That was last year... using the Lombardi blocking scheme... if you can even call it a "blocking" scheme. Nobody seemed to block last year. It was only pre-season, but Clapp looked improved in Moore's scheme. I agree... it's a drop off in talent... but how talented do you have to be to block Jerry Tillery...? We got this. We beat the Raiders this weekend... take a bye... then get a number of players back after the bye. I'm bummed that MW is out for the season. But I'm excited to see what QJ and DD can do. With multiple WR's out last year, Joshua Palmer took a quantum leap (72 catches). Ekeler should be back after the bye... we're still going to put up 30+ points on dudes.

Young players thrown into the battle, some survive, some die. Getting to the bye at 2-2 is a must happen......then hoping some players get back into the fray!

I watched a number of videos/interviews about Moore's offense this off-season. With formations/motion/shifts... he likes to move defenders (especially LB's and safeties) out of the box. This is what makes his run schemes (Staley likes to call it Marrying the pass game and the run game) so effective. It gives the OL a numbers advantage. That advantage didn't show up in the Titans or Vikings game because both teams blitzed (filling running lanes) and those numbers advantage disappeared. Moore/Herbert responded by passing more (700+ passing yards in 2 games). Moore calls this: making the defense choose their own poison... Some games we'll run more. Some games we'll pass more. It's nice we can do both. The end-of-the-game failures @tenn and @mia were due to disguised pass blitzes. That part of the game will need to improve. I think that part of the game (blitz recognition) did improve vs. Vikings game. Ekeler is already pretty good at this... Kelley will have to continue improving. I think Spiller is poor at this... and that's why he's not seeing more playing-time.

Clapp is going to be tested.....big time tested.

Take his training wheels off. Time to be more than a tool, time to be a leader.

If he is going in motion (and threatening jet sweeps)... and DC's continue to bring heat from the middle... he should be able to do damage (if your defense is concentrated at the middle). The other thing I'd like to see Moore do (that he hasn't to this point) is attack the flat with RB screens (or bubble screens to the outside or slot). The OL will play poorly if we don't force defenses to defend the edges.

Yep. 3 games into the new offense... that's a steep learning curve. But everyone close to Herbert says he's incredibly smart. Fingers crossed.

If the Raiders can produce pressure from the middle on a consistent basis, forcing the offence into quick attack plays, it will bring the defence in close....hunting for TO's. Screens, passing to the flats, jet sweeps all play into the defence plan....if they can get pressure up the middle. If Clapp and OG's give Herbert the time, the passing game should be successful. I think KA and Palmer are targeted early, then QJ burns the defence in second half. Spread that defence out, and make it a OL vs DL challenge.......might see Herbert run a few more times than we like, but c'est la vie If the Chargers offence can get up by two scores, does the raider defence approach change?

A lot of good stuff there, Frozen. The one thing Moore hasn't really done effectively is get the ball to the flats or screen plays. I 100% agree... this game will be OL v DL (on both sides of the ball. If KA and JP get going early... then I think QJ will get going in the 2nd half. I REALLY want DD to get involved, too. I think he presents new challanges for any defense. The sooner, the better. If the Chargers get up by 2 scores... I think we see the Raiders' D start to gamble (Lots of run blitz). The nice thing about Moore's offense is it has shown it can adjust game to game.

I think that opens up the middle to opportunities for KA and Palmer in short to mid passes. Use the TE's as well....but get the defence spread out, forced to cover the middle with Safeties and LB's. Be nice to pop a few runs, but my guess is the only successful running will be Herbert scrambles.

If they can get TE's splitting seams, the game plan will become easier. Will they use DD on jet sweeps...? Will they get him in motion...? Will they take a deep shot with him a couple of times...? Fingers crossed.

Show the Raiders why we moved on from DeAndre Carter... and drafted DD in the 4th round!
