I was in my restaurant when they picked Penix. The collective groans and wtf's made me laugh out loud. Mind you, my restaurant is in Flowery Branch less than 5 miles from the Falcons facility.

This thought crossed my mind last night. Alt clearly was picked to be the tackle, so what to do with Pipkins? Zion and Jamaree didn't play well last year, though much was blamed on losing Lindsey. Will Pipkins take over one of their Guard spots? Or can Pip play Center?? (sarcasm... maybe)Harbaugh said Alt will play ONE of the tackles spots. He will not commit to which one. Asked is Slater was still the left tackle, he said that is to be determined. I see Pipkins as our swing tackle, but Harbaugh said we will play our best 5 OL, period, and he sees Pipkins as one of the best 5. Let camps play out, then they slot who the want. I expect we will see a lot of 6 OL sets with Pipkins for a power run game setting up play action

On Trey: "His athleticism is also that freaky athleticism...I would be there's a spot on the starting five for Trey Pipkins." Is Pipkins moving to Guard ?? LOL. Sounds like coach talk, maybe. Salyer had a lousy 2023 at OG. Pretty sure Slater is LT, Alt RT this year. Zion is a 1st who came to camp buffed.
I think Johnson, Salyer and Pipkins compete for the OG jobs. The IOL was a mess last year. The coaches have their work cut out for them. I have trouble seeing Pip improve at OG but the challenge is there for him. I think Salyer can kick his ass but both have a lot to prove.

I would have taken their firsts this year and next along with their 2nd this year plus Jefferson. Needless to say I bet they would have declined.

I said at the time they didn't need to extend Herbert yet. Now we're stuck with a guy who's been to 1 playoff game, blew a 27-0 lead in it and is on a team that wants to play smashmouth football. We don't need a QB with his arm. JJ McCarthy would be fine. I bet if they didn't have that contract to deal with Hortiz and Harbaugh might have moved him. |
