Getting contributing play-makers in the late rounds is what makes good GM's great. Lets do work Hortiz. Today is your day. I wonder if statistics would show 'talent' is being found deeper into the draft each and every year. For us in ice hockey, we find these kids (drafted at age 18) that are ready for NHL in just two years is growing significantly. The allure, training, coaching, all aspects that make a player ready regardless of sport chosen, starts so much earlier.

Rice was projected to go by the third round. This was the steal of the draft. ESPN calculated there was a 1% chance of him lasting until the seventh round.
