Rice was projected to go by the third round. This was the steal of the draft. ESPN calculated there was a 1% chance of him lasting until the seventh round. And he's not happy about the drop

Yet 32 clubs chose to pass on him for six rounds....there is a reason. I do like his response, accepting the challenge, going to prove them all wrong. Good for him, hope he succeeds.

Really curious about the reason as is Mr Brenden Rice. Kid wasn't in trouble, nothing concerning that I've heard. Maybe it was just related to his ability. We shall see. But Jerry Rice should be at training camp helping to coach these guys up with a tip or two. HOF'er and maybe the best WR to ever do it

Love this pick. Dog at the #1 defense in college and fills a need Me, too! A+ in my book. All the above. He knows how to run Minters defense.

I bet many teams had their fill by end of day two and were focusing on other areas. He may simply have been forgotten or WR had fallen down the priority queue.

Same with Frank Gore Jr who went undrafted. Shame the Bills picked him up and we couldn't/didn't/wouldn't.

Are we happy with this draft ! ? !
Jimbo with the seat at the head of the table.
Hortiz killing it.
9 on a 10 scale.
Thus far, the Chargers have come as close to comprehensively solving all their needs as reasonably possible.
Bring on the UDFAs, UFAs.
Take good care y'all.

They methodically picked players at PON and addressed as many of the holes on the roster as could be expected. If the players pan out it was exceptional. If McConkey and Justin turn out to have been injury risks who end up on IR then not great

But the coaching and new facility look to be top notch, they are set up to succeed.

I don't feel like any of the players were a "reach", which I felt there was at least one from virtually every TT draft. I wasn't keen on the Alt pick at first but still didn't see him as a reach, just the player I would not have chosen.

I like his ability on the move and he looks like a serious challenge for Maxx.
I'm starting to take Harbaugh and Hortiz at their word. Like we'll have a 50/50 R/P target. We added six WRs in draft & FA including pick #2. I'm a big fan of balanced offense. Friggin' love the RB we drafted. The kid's a chunk and shifty.
Hard to wait for OTA pics & reports.

McConkey fell out of the first round so that can be a BPA. Because of POSITIONAL VALUE Michigan LB went where LB's are going nowadays, but he was Jim's BPA HA ! Rice was clearly clearly BPA in the seventh round. I think they did a healthy dose of BPA.

I hope that RB makes the roster. One thing I look for is how do you hit the hole (I'll report myself). He sprints through the hole !
