The Belichick rumors are nothing but clickbait attention headlines IMHO.... Belichick will retire and hang out with his best bud Jimmy Johnson before he comes here. OR some people are saying he is nothing without Brady. Herbert can be his redemption.

OR some people are saying he is nothing without Brady. Herbert can be his redemption. Why do people say this? Is BB not a defence coach first and foremost? If BB were to become the Chargers HC (he won't, but if he were) he would certainly keep Moore to run the offence while he fixed all that is wrong with the defence.

Without Brady Belichick is 82 and 97 with 1 playoff win. Since Brady's departure in 2019 the Pats are 27 and 33...
We want him why???
Herbert is not a good enough reason.

I find it incredibly unlikely that the Chargers hire an experienced HC. I don’t think they want the dynamic of a BB or a coach that controls all aspects of player personnel.

All you have to do is try to picture Bill Belichick dressing up in something more formal than a hoodie, to meet with Dean Spanos asking to be considered for an opportunity to work for him. Sound realistic ? Now repeat the above for any other High Profile Coach. In the end you get someone like Chris Shula - Linebackers Coach/Pass Rush Coordinator for the Rams with former ties to the San Diego Chargers and Grandson of the winningest HC of All Time.

Guys I’d want to interview: Ben Johnson Kellen Moore Bobby Slowik Brian Johnson Frank Smith Press Taylor I don’t want another D HC, but if we had to, I’d interview these guys: Lou Anarumo Mike Macdonald Dan Quinn The more I hear and the more tea leaves I read, the more I think it will be one of the new O HCs on this list. (Though I wouldn’t hate Dan Quinn, I just don’t want a D HC.) |

He ain’t leaving if they get a top QB. |
