Harbaugh isn’t going to give much by way of injury intel. That much is clear. My question is: How do we go from “Slater is working off to the side” to “the Chargers aren’t resigning one of the best players in the NFL”? For me, its just a feeling. He hasn't been "one of the best players in the NFL" since his rookie year. Lets be real on that, he needs to get back to form and injury news big or small doesn't help his case.

He was excellent last year in spite of double high ankle sprains. He’s getting paid. |

I think he will be fine. Slater is under contract this year and next. He is not going anywhere soon. Do you think Alt will play a career at right tackle; or perhaps Slater will move right and be content? I have high expectations that Alt will be challenging for the left tackle spot soon. Decisions will be made next offseason on whether we keep both in '26.

The brakes were pumped on draft day 1. Alt will take over left tackle from Slater eventually. Slater will walk in '26 and return a 3rd round comp pick. Slater and Alt will the bookends on the Super Bowl winning club! 3RD round picks are rarely worth the loss of a 1ST round established player. If Alt is the LOT, then trade Slater before 2026...... So trade Slater in '25 when Alt shows he is the LOT? That means Superbowl this year for you. (I would be surprised but very very happy!) IMO, Slater stays for two years. Now maybe Slater is tagged in '26 and traded.

So trade Slater in '25 when Alt shows he is the LOT? That means Superbowl this year for you. (I would be surprised but very very happy!) IMO, Slater stays for two years. No.....keep the bookends for the next two seasons, 24 and 25.....then if the plan is to not pay Slater, then trade him before the 26 season starts....which would be his final year under contract if I understand this correctly.
