Absolutely need to step it up! They are cutting back season tickets 15%, but a lot more needs to be done. As for any major championship never being won in a major sport by such a pathetic fan base, check out the 2003 Florida Marlins who beat the #1 in attendance and revenues NY Yankees in the World Series. www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2003-misc.shtmlGood call on the Marlins. IIRC, the front office rewarded the players and fans with a fire sale right after. Until baseball solves the small market team issue, it will be the same ol teams each year. Houston will not last long.

This season. I have gotten several calls from the Chargers season ticket reps who have left messages thanking me for purchasing season tickets at Stan Canyon and letting me know that they are offering season tickets for 2019 at 15% off. With my work schedule over the next six to nine months, it’s not feasible for me to get season tickets in 2019, so I haven’t gotten back to them.

Oh boy -- wait til Chop sees this . . . . City politics and fan base are two different things. When we lived there (2003 to 2006) they had the best set of sports venues in the country between the Toyota center, Minute Maid Park, and Reliant Stadium. It was a great sports town. Went to a Super Bowl and an MLB all star game while there. Met George Bush the elder on the sideline of a Texans game. Got to watch a rookie Antonio Gates play there. I’ve lived just outside of Atlanta since and even though we have great sports venues as well, the fan support isn’t even close. The strongest fan base here is for Atanta United. The blow the Falcons fans away.

Every city that has lost an NFL franchise has eventually gotten one back. Will the streak end with Oakland and San Diego?

I was familiar with the details only because I happened to see, the day before yesterday, the "A Football Life" entitled "Goodbye, Houston". And it wasn't just city politics -- the FANS stayed away from the Oilers games in droves. Set new attendances for lows. Of course, that's because of their disdain for Bud Adams - not for sports in general. (To be fair to the LA fans who turned on the Rams back in the day, I think Georgia Frontiere did far worse to her fans than Adams did to his). Anyhoo -- that's why I referenced Chop. If I recall correctly, he looooves him some Bud Adams. . .

Every city that has lost an NFL franchise has eventually gotten one back. Will the streak end with Oakland and San Diego? With the exception of corporate/entertainment rich Los Angeles, every city who have lost an NFL franchise have had to pony up a far greater dollar tag to attract a replacement franchise than would have been required to keep their existing franchise in town. I'm not sure that Oakland will have the economic power to help finance a new NFL stadium at the astronomical dollars that are required these days, and unfortunately I have zero confidence that San Diego politicians will ever get their act together to put together an economic package that will be attractive enough to lure an NFL franchise 120 miles south of two franchises playing in the top stadium venue on the planet.

Yes the prices go up. That’s been the gold mine of the NFL and astronomical increase in construction costs.
Kroenke’s palace may be the top venue for a while, just as Jerry world was before it but that doesn’t last forever
