The tribute (Gold Stick, histoire) and the article (Plante's famous mask, skaters without helmets, controversy) all was a great read, watch. I am aghast that the Bruins, Rangers and Blackhawks would cheat by making the crossbars on their goals @ home ice 2 inches lower than regulation. Everyone, they deviously welded the crossbars to the inside of the highest points on the goalposts, instead of welding the crossbars to the top of the goalposts. Very good article, with plenty of interesting history in it. The three clubs you mention all sourced their nets from the same place, and the other clubs used a different source, which is where things went awry. I don't think any of that was intentional, perhaps the Bruins was intentional, but failing to fix it was certainly intentional by all three clubs.

Can they tell if the size of the goal is only off by two inches ?

Can they tell if the size of the goal is only off by two inches ? Not a doubt in my mind. I do not play very often anymore, but I am certain if I played using a net only 1/2 inch off I would notice it quickly. Next game you watch, pay attention to the goalie as he sets up for a face-off. Almost every single goalie will tap the post as they move into position. That isn't for show.....it tells them exactly where that post is, setting the angles for play. In the article, it was the height of the net that was off, and it was noted by the writer how Plante knew it was off. We back into the crossbar a bunch every game, it best be hitting the same spot on our back. Super easy to recognize the shorter posts. I am quite sensitive, hence my being so upset about sdc's post.

Penguins end tough road trip getting 7 points out of a possible 8.

Winning the Metropolitan would be far better for their chances than coming in 3rd......veteran club, they realize how important these points are for them. Good effort, getting 7/8 is what was needed, now they need to have another week just like it.....

Off to Columbus......very significant game tonight. Winner doesn't get in, loser isn't out, but winning creates a huge edge towards getting in.
* Hoping the Caps can defeat the Canes tonight as well.

The way the Leafs have been playing recently, there would be a certain irony in them clinching a playoff spot on April Fools Day.

No PO's for the Habs means we get to play the lottery Tuesday night.....we only have a 1% chance, so maybe not waste the time watching what will be easily read later.

Just want to put it out there now......Habs will win the Cup this season...2019. I just looked at the playoff seedings and actually had to look 👀 twice. No Montreal anywhere? What happened?
