Just want to put it out there now......Habs will win the Cup this season...2019. I just looked at the playoff seedings and actually had to look 👀 twice. No Montreal anywhere? What happened? We lost too many games....... Now we hope for Lottery Luck......

You're hoping for a touch of some of the magic that the NBA's Orlando franchise was feeling in the early 90's after they drafted Shaq with the #1 overall pick in the 1992 draft after having the worst overall record in the league. Orlando was the final team to miss the playoffs the following season, so they only had a 1.5% of getting the overall pick. The ping pong ball gods worked their magic, so Orlando got the #1 pick again. They drafted Chris Webber, then immediately traded him for rookie Penny Hardaway and three more 1st round picks. End result is that Lady Luck turned Orlando into a strong franchise almost overnight. The NBA changed the lottery rules the next year so that the odds were far less for the last team to miss the playoffs to win the top pick.

but what happened in a month? going from stanley cup champion pick to left out of the playoffs is quite a fall.

Yes it is......quite disappointing I must say.

We were not expected to be close to making the PO's this past season, yet came quite close. Plenty of serious talent in our system, some will make the Habs next year, we are building for a solid long term future. I am very positive about our PO chances moving forward. No need to pull out the guillotine just yet, eh ?
