The whole BPA vs. PON is interesting. Part of the problem with the draft is that we do not know the team's board and what they consider BPA. So when Telesco go in a wildly different direction like Easton Stick or Pipken, we consider it a reach instead of BPA.

I see a fundamental change in the style of OL pick by TT that Pipkins represents, and I really like the approach. I do not see 'reach' in this pick at all. Well Disc, it looks like the FO is really confident about Lamp doing something this year. I personally would have drafted another interior OL to push Feeney at least. There will be about 10 UDFA OL in camp. maybe a diamond in the rough shows.

It early, plenty we don't know. TC and final cuts will tell us more

Look at the size of Pipkin, he makes Tillery look small.

I mean Mack Wilson was supposed to a late first rounder/early 2nd rounder, not a fifth rounder.

I hope Pipkin is smart enough that he can contribute this year somehow.

I hope Pipkin is smart enough that he can contribute this year somehow. Here are a few qualities posted on the Chargers website as to why they liked him:
Strengths:
Athletic build with long limbs and room for more weight
Pass sets have NFL potential with adequate balance, anchor and foot quickness
Quick sets out on top of edge rushers to land pre-emptive strike
Plays with good knee-bend to bolster body control during mirror
Sudden power step inside to cut-off inside moves
Enough early lateral quickness to have a shot at NFL reach blocks
Strong, clenching hands provide for longer block sustains
Finisher who keeps grinding on opponents until he hears the whistle
Praised by scouts for high character and football intelligence

Did Jim Brown refer to this year's draft as the 2013 draft?
Back when he played if Jim Brown said it was the 2013 Draft everybody and the Commissioner would change all of the signs to read 2013.

www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001028874/article/2019-nfl-draft-final-quicksnap-grades-for-all-32-teamsDay 1 grade: A- Day 2 grade: B- Day 3 grade: B Overall grade: B+ Draft analysis: The Chargers ignored needs at offensive tackle and in the secondary to address the need at DT in Round 1. Tillery is a load when allowed to get upfield, especially when he keeps his hips low to push through blocks. They were apparently not as worried as some teams about the shoulder surgery the tackle had before the draft. Adderley is a versatile cover free-safety prospect who can replace the released Jahleel Addae and will complement Derwin James quite well. Pipkins is a project player who has potential as an offensive tackle but was picked a round or two early because they felt the need to find one before Day 3. I projected Stick to go to the Chargers in the sixth round, but they jumped on him a round earlier to compete with Tyrod Taylor and Cardale Jones for a roster spot. Tranquill meets a need at linebacker, and Broughton is an active interior defender.

I would tend to agree, they must have some confidence in Lamp........or the other OL players in conjunction with Lamp. I would have drafted at least one OG.

No way. Seriously ? I don't believe it. You mean to tell me that going against Khalil Mack isn't the same as playing Concordia St. Paul ? That's a real team listed on their schedule this year, folks. On my best day on fire I couldn't make that up, I swear to you............... The key is he has the physical talent for which there is no substitute.
Just like you can teach a CB all the great cover skills in the world but you can't teach speed. You either have it or you don't.
This kid has all the measurables you look for in an Offensive Lineman. Technique can be taught.
What part of this sick and twisted filth is NOT Reported ? All the measurables huh ?
