Your exceedingly eloquent apology is accepted by the Court. You seem to be misunderstanding Joe's reply of "Now understood."........his understanding is of how quickly the fake emperor crawled and groveled before the great Mod, begging for understanding. No apology, just acknowledgement of you being subservient to the Mods that actually run this show. #thatistoofunny

I encourage those who can to subscribe to The Athletic. Chargers reporter Daniel Popper is doing a great job. Here is one of his five thoughts from yesterday’s game: 2. Pipkins on the rise Rookie Trey Pipkins played three series Saturday, one at right tackle and two at left tackle, and showed dramatic improvement from his first two NFL games. I still question if the Chargers can rely on him as their swing tackle. He’s so raw. But the key is that Pipkins is learning from his mistakes and appears more comfortable playing at this level. Pipkins played 17 passing snaps. He was beat on only two. On one, Seahawks edge rusher Barkevious Mingo spun past Pipkins to the inside and forced an errant throw from Easton Stick. Pipkins was called for a false start on the next snap. On the second, Mingo ran an inside stunt, and Pipkins and Scott Quessenberry — who was in at left guard — miscommunicated when passing off defensive lineman Branden Jackson, who had shifted to the outside. Other than that, Pipkins was really solid. On Stick’s touchdown pass to Andre Patton early in the fourth quarter, Pipkins was playing right tackle and dropped defensive end Jacob Martin to the turf. That cleared the avenue for Stick to roll out to his right. Two plays earlier, Pipkins sealed the right edge and opened a huge hole for Pope, who broke free for 18 yards and set up the Chargers in the red zone. Then on his third series, Pipkins was matched up again with Mingo. The Seahawks’ defensive end tried the exact same inside spin move that previously beat Pipkins. This time, Pipkins was ready and stone-walled Mingo. Pipkins played collegiately in Division II, so he’s making an enormous jump in a very short period of time. He could rely on his superior physical ability at Sioux Falls. But in the NFL, everyone is as big and strong as he is. “It’s definitely just technique stuff,” Pipkins said after Saturday’s loss. “There’s just a lot of little technique stuff that were foreign to me and I hadn’t learned. Just different stuff that you have to do at this level to be successful, mostly hand techniques and things like that to win blocks. “It’s stuff that I had heard before, but I guess I didn’t really have to do it at that level in order to be successful, if that makes sense. But I definitely need to do it here, so I need to continue to work on that stuff and get better at that kind of stuff.” Pipkins is implementing completely new techniques, things he didn’t start learning until May. “Even though I’m not necessarily comfortable with all of them right now, it’s still trying to use them,” he said. Pipkins has been leaning heavily on Russell Okung’s advice. Okung is on the non-football illness list because of blood clots he suffered in June, but he’s still in every meeting and on the field at every practice. “I take everything he says to heart just because when somebody that good is giving you advice, you know it’s going to work,” Pipkins said. Pipkins has the frame and athleticism to be a standout tackle in the NFL. But development takes time, especially for a player coming from Division II. Will he progress fast enough to help the Chargers in 2019? “I’m confident about it,” he said. theathletic.com/1160277/2019/08/25/five-thoughts-from-the-chargers-preseason-loss-to-the-seahawks/

That potential is just so enticing....Pipkins clearly isn't ready, but if as this reporter implies, TT might have found a gem.

Although Mingo hasn’t lived up to his draft status, he has uber talent as exemplified by his being the #6 overall pick in the next 2013 draft, so getting beat by him a couple of times is a learning step. It will be interesting to watch Pipkins on Thursday to see if he further improves. After that, I’d prefer not to see him again in 2019 outside of special teams.

I like putting that raw talent up against high end talent.....really gives them a sense of what they need to be competitive. It would not shock me to see them throw Pipkins into the fray way before he is ready, just hope it doesn't ruin him.

But a raw prospect like him needs time to perfect good techniques. If he gets thrown in too early, I worry that he will not have time to develop those techniques and instead become sloppy.

How about pieces of our franchise QB laying all over the field ?!?!?!?!?!?! Ruin him. I could give a furry rats butt about "ruining him".

I have a feeling that AL is lighting a little extra fire under Tevi's butt. I hope we that we don't have to see any Pipkins oline reps other than garbage time during the 2019 season.

The talent at OT is pretty weak, so if Pipkins continues to improve through the season, he might overtake one of the starting OT's. Injury would force the issue......

I saw the Pats picked up a couple of OL yesterday. Getting a jump on cut down day I still say its crazy that they do all of the cuts at the same time now. Front offices have to be really scrambling to keep up. That's a lot of football players being released all at the same time. WHEW
