With the off season efforts pretty much behind us, and ostensibly much improvement in the OL group, my question is how do you guys view this OL group? Are they a 'run' OL, or a 'pass' OL? The key to your question is how does everyone VIEW this OL. Because the truth is no one knows the answer because they have never played together. I view it as a pass OL, and there are clues to help us. I told you before the season ended and after, you CANNOT have the ROTY at QB and not go out and help him. It is like a football rule. Herbert's passing under pressure was actually an embarrassment to watch. So the front office made big changes to that. Heck, the team is even bringing in Shaun Sarrett to be the assistant offensive line coach. Sarrett has spent nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have consistently had one of the best offensive lines in the league. Think Big Ben. Matt Feiler. Think Big Ben. Lombardi and Jared Cook. Think Drew Brees. Linsley and Bulaga. Think Aaron Rodgers. Oday Aboushi. Think Mathew Stafford. Even Slater's first message after being drafted was to Herbert "I've got your back." LT's are so valuable in the draft to protect a QB's blindside. Not to block for Pope.

While I pretty much agree on your analysis, or evaluation if you prefer, my question is unanswered. You are straddling the fence.......pick a side....run or pass? At least your unhealthy addiction to the OL has finally brought about a great question. Well done. Don't let these posters get off cheap either. They are smart about our Chargers and they are cheating their answers. "Both" is an obvious answer. Make them pick a side like you did with sonorajim. They are also using the the cheap out: "It's a passing league so I will say pass protection." They gotta do better than that. There’s certainly more talent along the line than we’ve had for years. We’ll see if they can develop the necessary chemistry. I don’t see why they couldn’t be as effective as any we’ve had since 2006.
