So at the end, when he already decided to leave, the team caved with their tail between their legs.
Good preview of what's coming.
Bell is negotiating with Pitt again? No, Gordon is.

Handing out some sort of 'punishment' is a slippery slope. You can bet there are other players, on the club and around the league, watching this play out. My thought is don't reward him with a new contract, but don't get carried away with treating him poorly either. Let it play out.....if he sits out until week 10, then welcome him back. End of season decide if you are going to tag him...... The example I was thinking of was one where the Chargers do not negotiate with a holdout. Show up and prepare like you want to win the SB, we can talk. Make it all about the money, talk to your bartender. HA. Its not a hostage negotiation Jim. "We don't negotiate with running back terrorists damn you !!!!!!!!!" C'mon now.
Show up for 4 years and prepare blah blah and we can talk. Guys are getting extended around the league after their 3rd year, we'll see you in year 6 for your retirement party.
Its Not Approved.

Good preview of what's coming. No, Bell committed hari kari. WWII Japanese soldiers would be proud. Bell ended up signing for $28 million guaranteed, less than what Brandt predicted and, more importantly, less than the Steelers offered. From Andrew Brandt, probably the best contract analyst in pro sports who was a former NBA / NFL agent & Packers Assistant General Manager (Ed McGuire-equivalent) and is a current Villanova Law School Sports Law professor. Pretty darned spot-on analysis, and Gordon is nowhere near Bell in on-field performance level. ___________________________ Brandt On Bell: "I Have No Understanding Of What He Did" Le'Veon Bell will likely receive roughly $30 million in guaranteed money in his next contract, Andrew Brandt says, and "the rest will be fluff"MARCH 12, 2019 - 10:25 AM Several NFL teams figure to make a run at Le’Veon Bell in free agency, including the Jets, Raiders, 49ers, Ravens, and Packers. Wherever Bell lands, however, he may be underwhelmed by the contract he receives. “I’ve been very vocal about Bell. I have no understanding of what he did,” MMQB columnist Andrew Brandt said on Taz & The Moose. “He’s not going to make up $15 million. Even if he gets $30 million guaranteed now, he could have gotten that last year. So I just don’t understand Bell. If I’m a team, I’m going to do however many years it (takes), but I’m not guaranteeing more than two. I think he’ll come out with $30 million guaranteed, and then the rest will be fluff.”Last July, Todd Gurley, 24, signed a four-year deal with $45 million in guaranteed money. Brandt does not believe that Bell, 27, will receive that kind of deal. “No, no I don’t,” Brandt said. “He’s older, and there are questions about him that Gurley didn’t have. Again, I could be wrong. We talk about four teams bidding – that’s going to drive up the price. But we’ll see.” Brandt served as Packers vice president from 1999 to 2008, negotiating player contracts and managing the salary cap, among other responsibilities. He explained what matters – and what doesn’t – with NFL contracts. “Pay no attention to (the) numbers,” he said. “It’s all about the guarantee. The real factor I would look for in any of these deals is past year two. Past year two, are there guarantees? And I’m not talking about guarantees like if you’re on the roster in March. No, that’s not a guarantee. (I’m talking about full guarantees). Kirk Cousins had that, but I don’t know if any of these players are going to have that. That’s what I would look for.”cbssportsradio.radio.com/articles/andrew-brandt-leveon-bell-will-get-30-million-guaranteed-money

All about the guarantees... where have I heard that before?? Guarantees to be spread across only four years max with a franchise that needs to get PR extended in 2019 with less than $5 million in cap space, and then extend Bosa (who does have real contract leverage) in 2020. That's why it won't be a top 3 contract - the current offer is probably slightly above #4 - won't be forthcoming, and the guaranteed 20 millionish guaranteed $$$ will be years 1 & 2 of the deal. Like Bell, under-contract MG isn't going to get what his current reported asking price is from anybody.

Like Bell, under-contract MG isn't going to get what his current reported asking price is from anybody. Strange that you dookied all over my contract proposal considering it was not top 3, the guaranteed money was very reasonable, and it was spread over 5 years, not 4. As far as I know, what's being called his "demand" (which is really just standard negotiation) is to get Gurley money, which he would in a way. 60 mil total > 57 mil total. Thing is, the guaranteed money would be much less. It protects the team while giving MG3 what he's asked for. Win win. There are lots of ways to get creative with contracts. There is absolutely 0 reason we can't hang on to EVERYBODY right now. Rivers career is coming to a close. In as little as 2 years time we're no longer going to be on the hook for elite QB money. Structure these deals to take advantage of that. This is simple stuff you simpering slatterns.

Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart for this honor!! I am truly blessed!!! First, I'd like to thank MG for giving us something to talk (i.e. ramble on) about during the dead zone of the season. I truly couldn't have done it without him!!! 🍻 Second, I wish Melvin the best of luck in securing the best long-term contract he can over the next few weeks as nobody will really care about training camp at the end of the day, but if he doesn't like the offer at the end of training camp I hope that he is smarter than his cohort who was formerly from Pittsburgh but now resides in Jersey by realizing that the best way to secure a long-term deal to his satisfaction will be to play out the fifth year of his contract, light up the NFL in 2019 while leading his team to a Lombardi, and being rewarded with a deal commensurate with his on and off-the-field production.

TC 2019 starts next week......and if Gordon no shows, so do his fines.
Wonder what team will come in last, and obtain the 1st overall pick by doing so?
*their 2nd rd pick might be enticing if Gordon holds out.

Gordon is under contract for the season......it is a simple fact. If Gordon holds out, TT could look to trade him, and any of Cardinals, Dolphins, Bengals, Bills would provide a high enough 2nd rd pick to say bye bye.

You asked what team would come in last, and that won't be decided until the end (near end) of the season.
