Dear Lawyer, Those fines are WICKED. Are they set by the team ? The league ? Union agreement ? Do they change team by team, year by year ? Where they lose their luster is that teams waive them if the player signs a deal. Fines are set by the CBA. From Kevin Patra’s nfl.com column: “Gordon would be subject to fines of up to $40,000 for each day missed if he does not report, per the collective bargaining agreement."www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001035544/article/melvin-gordon-will-demand-trade-without-new-dealOf course, the team can choose to waive the fines if they so choose, and in my opinion that would happen if MG were to report at the close of training camp (a couple of weeks before Game 1), but start missing games, then all bets are off. IMO this is why MG and Bilbo (his agent's name, I kid you not) lose the leverage game in negotiations, and why nobody who has had their fifth year option exercised has held out. Thanks. That is reassuring. We'll probably see Gordon in bolts this year.

I wasn't asking in a literal fashion, much more just thinking out loud. Clearly there is no way to know which team will actually be last, but TT could approach several that are projected to suck, and get one to trade their 2nd. A pick in the top five of the 2nd rd would be sweet.....Gordon won't be missed, just replaced. It is rare to win a championship with selfish players..... Joe has already nixed any trade talk. BUT, since we are allowed to discuss. I'll open up with some GENIUS insight for you. Be sure to share it with the lawyers on here. I am going to tell you how GM's look at trades, NOT fanboys, the GM's. At this point, ALL of you should be tingling with excitement-hanging on my every word. I am tempted to keep typing blah blah, so to keep you in suspense................................. GM's don't trade players. WHAT ? Freak has absolutely lost his genius mind !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay with me villagers, here comes the light....... GM's trade CONTRACTS. So you not only want a second rounder, you want to find Team Suckalot and get the 33rd pick of the draft. Bless your puck shaped heart, I feel you, and I appreciate the desire. The value is not there. You have to take a lower draft pick because the team that gets Gordon has to pay his post-rookie contract, which is the "big" contract of a players career. You are asking Team Suck to pay a multiple year, tens of millions dollar contract, AND its going to cost them the 33rd pick of the draft to do it. They just won't. It's too much. PS When you look at the bottom teams, you also want to look for teams hurting at Running Back. Example: Arizona sucked. But they just signed RB Johnson to a big contract, so they would be out of picture. Bell landed at the Jets for his big contract because I swear to the heavens I think moe was 3rd on their depth chart at RB. You want teams that have the need. I hope this was all enlightening and educational for you guys (I have serious, serious reservations that it was BTW) You may now click your little Like Buttons, Nominate me for Glory, and Hail me to the Stars. Love, Your Most High Emperor The bold above is my thought on Gordon and top of the RB's money.....

Not only will you pay me more than 5.6 million this year, you will throw away the agreement we had previously made, and write a new one.......or I am not showing up. The sense of entitlement is off the charts........

I am good with whatever gets MG III on the field for us this year. Hardball, softball, extend, don’t extend, it doesn’t matter to me as long as he’s ready to go against the Colts in game 1. We are going to need him.

Trade him to the Texans for Jadeveon Clowney then sign Jay Ajayi I would not appease Gordon with a trade. Gordon can fulfill his obligation as the rules of the CBA allow.

I would simply say to Gordon and his agent privately, we have a year left in our agreement. No trade, no new contract, hope to see you in TC2019 next week.

The sense of entitlement is off the charts........ Goes on every year with multiple multiple players. You better get used to it too. The chickens are coming home to roost. I'll explain for the hockey players in the audience: Everybody wants good draft picks/years etc. Everybody wants multiple years of good drafts. Ok, but those contracts end. Good players are going to want paid. We have multiple players lined up year after year now. Hell, Joe is ready to give Joey Bosa 200 million dollars tomorrow morning !!! Good draft years, with good players, are rotating around to us. This is another reason the handling of Gordon is VITAL. It will set the tone for the next players coming up. What message do you want to send TT ? How will it affect our culture ? "Bolt Gang, or Don't Pay" ?ATTACK ME FANBOYS FOR EXPOSING THE TRUTH FOR YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What message do you want to send TT ? How will it affect our culture ? "Bolt Gang, or Don't Pay" ?ATTACK ME FANBOYS FOR EXPOSING THE TRUTH FOR YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bosa is vital: his production on the field is irreplaceable and plays a non-fungible position, so barring a serious injury in 2019 Joey will have earned the early extension. Gordon is nice to have (I definitely want him on the field in 2019), but not irreplaceable as as demonstrated last year with wins over the 12-4 Chiefs & 9-6-1 Steelers on the road and the 9-7 Titans in London (not to mention the 6-10 Bengals in Cincinnati) with MG sitting out the games with yet another knee injury. That's why you pay Bosa going into his option year while Gordon plays the fifth year just as his previously injury-prone Melvin brother had to do and countless other 1st round picks from 2011 onward had to do. MG and Bilbo have little leverage, and IMO he will end up playing out his fifth year before potentially hitting the lottery. These decisions are made on a case-to-case basis. Always reliable for four seasons (missed one game) Corey Liuget gets an extension after year 4, Melvin Ingram after missing half of the team's games in years 2 & 3 has to play out his contract before getting the big long-term extension, while didn't produce up-to-their-draft-pick status Fluker and Verrett are allowed to leave after playing out their contracts. I suspect that MG is in the same category as Ingram.
