Gordon is under contract......TT needs to do nothing but monitor the situation, stay positive in the media. If when games start and the Bolts look good in the RB play, Gordon will really feel the pressure. We will see him week 10......by then things won't be so loving between the two parties. At that point we would be lucky if he wasn't handing the ball to defenders.................. Now that is funny stuff....... I just think that this is an ill fated mission Gordon is on, and one can only hope he recognizes it as such before real games start. I do not see the club giving in.

If you follow the news the two sides are sending proposals back and forth. Not only is that a good sign, it also indicates that TT is not just sitting back thinking "too bad, you are under contract". He knows how the league works in the modern day.

Congrats to RB Kevin Byard for his big deal, but why stop there ? Why not talk to RB Jimmy Garrappolo about his deal? Oh no, you have me trapped in the RB game ! Uhhhhhhhhhhh, Ezekiel Elliott.
That is my counter, cuz Double E bout to get PAID.Which HAS 2 YEARS LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT !
Gordon's gotta eat ya know.
Zeke has had two monster years that dwarf anything that Gordon has had, and Jerruh won’t even make a contract offer to him at this stage as Zeke is still under contract. Sounds like the Chargers are treating MGIII very fairly in comparison.

His reputation is on the line, and all of our players are watching keenly. He will CAVE to Gordon's power. Easy prediction really.

Offered him #4 RB in the NFL $$$ despite the fact that he has come nowhere near #4 in the NFL production a year before he is eligible for free agency. Sounds like they are treating MGII very fairly.

If he waits, the way salaries are going, he'll probably make even more money. Esp if he has a full year and 1K yards

Doesn’t sound like it’s guaranteed; sounds like Bilbo wants Gurley money or bust.
Eric Williams followed it up with this:

In the immortal words of the late great Dick Enberg: "Oh, my!!!!"Just perusing the NFL.com article regarding Zeke's holdout, and I stumbled upon this nugget that I was totally unaware of, primarily because players under contract haven't held out since the new CBA has been in place in 2011: - Every day Elliott misses training camp going forward could cost him $40,000 (should the Cowboys choose to impose daily fines). While it's the first day of Cowboys camp, it's also a day closer to Aug. 6, which is the reporting deadline to acquire a year of service toward free agency. The service time is not accrued if a player fails to report to his squad at least 30 days prior to the first game of the season.

Maybe, just maybe, there is a good reason why players under contract haven't held out??? As I stated early on in this thread, I was unsure about when the date for a year's service accrual is. It used to be Week 10 under the old CBA, but if this NFL.com article is accurate, then the date of no return for MGIII is August 5th. Where exactly is Bilbo's leverage in this impasse???

Yes we will see him week ten, perhaps before. When the Bolts are winning without MG, what incentive does TT have to make it rain $$$. AL might be thinking , " What's the rush, why not wait to get some fresh legs coming into the season around week ten."

Week 10 now means nothing if August 5th is the reporting date for MGIII to get service credit for his 5th season, thereby making him ineligible for free agency in 2020 if he misses that reporting date. It looks like MGIII will almost certainly be in camp well before the Saints joint practice dates.

The CFB consensus is rarely wrong, no?

It looks like MGIII will almost certainly be in camp well before the Saints joint practice dates. What is the reporting date to get service credit? I thought the CFB consensus is week ten. The CFB consensus is rarely wrong, no? It absolutely used to be Week 10 under the old CBA when more than a handful of players played that game of chicken, but nobody under contract has tried to hold out since 2011 when the new CBA was adopted. I have a feeling that everybody was still reporting by the old CBA rules since the new rules haven't been tested over the past 8 seasons. I'm willing to bet that the NFL owners got that concession from the NFLPA so that a true game of chicken would no longer be in effect (i.e., holding the team hostage as opposed to forcing the player and agent make an earlier decision). I'll do some more research, but I can't imagine that an NFL.com reporter (probably the Cowboys beat reporter) would have gotten it wrong with such an important storyline involving "America's Team". Now that I see the 30 days deadline, I can search for it. I promise to post the results of my research after I am finished.
