The Chargers do not play the ones that are "best". They play the ones that are "right". Staring at Andrew Luck in a couple weeks I sure hope we figure out the right ones then !!! Hasn't practiced since May (if you can call an Offseason Training Activity session a practice).Andrew Luck will miss another week of practice as he continues to rehab leg injuriesWednesday, Aug 21, 2019 INDIANAPOLIS — Andrew Luck will not practice this week. Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich announced Tuesday afternoon that after missing almost all of training camp, the star quarterback will spend another week on the sidelines rehabbing his lingering ankle and calf injuries. Full-speed movements and managing Luck’s pain threshold continue to be the biggest factors as the soon-to-be 30-year-old works his way back to the practice field. “Really all we have right now is a combination of full-speed movement and pain threshold,” Reich said. "It’s that combination of how much full speed and what level. It’s on a continuum, right? A continuum of speed and movement and a continuum of pain. So it’s that combination." When asked if Luck feels pain during activity, after or both, Reich declined to delve into details. “At this point I’d really not talk about the pain and all the various things,” he said. “There’s just always those moving parts." A few hours before Saturday's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, Andrew Luck participated in some side-to-side footwork and throwing drills, displaying exactly the the type of mobility Chris Ballard said he needed to show in order to get back on the field. Despite Saturday's events, Luck remains slated to sit out the entire preseason while his Week 1 availability remains a question. Last Wednesday, Reich set a deadline for that determination, saying that team needs to know if Luck will play Week 1 by the conclusion of this weekend’s game against the Chicago Bears. Earlier this offseason, Reich also said that, ideally, his starting quarterback would participate in a full week of practice before playing in a game, which would mean a return at the beginning of September. Ultimately, when Luck returns to the field will be largely up to him. While he’ll obviously need to be medically cleared, which has not yet happened, Reich said over the weekend that only Luck knows how much pain he’s in and that pain management is a relevant issue. “The pain threshold thing is not something to be ignored, right?” Reich said Sunday. “There’s the strength in the issue. We know he is doing everything possible there. The workouts on the field have been good both from getting work on fundamentals and technique but also strengthening it while you are on the field, but there is also the pain threshold thing. We have to figure that out the best way we can.” www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2019/08/21/indianapolis-colts-quarterback-andrew-luck-ankle-miss-another-week-practice/2070569001/

Yes, they will, but I have serious doubts if he'll be playing. Even if he does, Luck will be mighty rusty with literally no leadup work with the offense heading into the season.

Luck is a really good QB, with years of experience. Either way, the colts are not going to be a roll over. It would be a really good win.

Even though the Bolts went 12-4 last year, they started off the season 1-2. In 2017, they started 0-4. Heck, even back in 2006 they started 4-2 (finishing 14-2) and in 2009 they started 2-3 (finishing 13-3). Get out of the gate!!!

Luck is a top tier QB. Rust schmust. Hell Rivers may see zero preseason action. These guys have been in the league, in their own system, long enough. Trust nothing. Glad to see I could get you on board with me: I repeat, I hate this game. I don't care about the other 15 games. KC. Pitt, Chicago, blah blah. Bring them on I am ready to cheer my team !!!!!!!!!!!! But this cursed wicked evil game one. Indy is good, I'm glad we didn't have them in the playoffs. I would have literally played KC a third time before Indy. We get little home field advantage because its Indy's first game. They won't be season tired nor travel tired. I'm telling you, I don't like it, and I don't want to be 0-1. We need a big effort by our team to kick start the season. Be scared, the rare time I am scared. That is all.

Other positions may be able to immediately get back on the bike, but QB is different. He just began throwing the football this past week for the first time in almost three months.

Based on last year's avg's LAC is marginally better, our O vs their D & vice versa. This ain't last year. We have improved defensive talent, Indy should be below their avg at passing O. All that means nothing but we obviously have a chance to post a "W".

The shoulder injury that kept him out of all of 2017 had a major impact on his ability to throw early last season.

Regardless, Luck hasn’t practiced since May, he just started passing this week, and it doesn’t look likely that he will practice next week. The last thing that the Colts will do is rush Luck back and risk a reinjury that could put him out of action for a month or more. I don’t care who you are, if you go into the regular season as an NFL QB with one or two weeks of practice, you won’t be ready to hit the ground running with your receivers. I expect the Colts to test the Chargers with the run game, and I feel much better going into the game with the Colts being forced to be more one-dimensional.
