Losing the opening game is a bit pre-mature to be declaring them the “same old Raptors”, wouldn’t you say ? Flake sitting out, is not the only reason why you guys won’t give the Bucks any type of challenge. It’ll certainly make things worse, but the bottom line is the Pistons were a .500 team, that needed help just to qualify for the playoffs at the very last minute. The Bucks on the other hand were the best team in the league, and quite honestly should be the favorites to win the NBA Championship this year. The Raptors were the one and only team the Pistons had any shot against in the playoffs, and it’s all to do with the Coaching. Dwayne Casey is less than a year removed as the Raptors Head Coach, and the guy who was his Assistant is now in his spot, so of course that gives Dwayne a huge advantage. Are you really at peace with Flake sitting out the playoffs, in exchange for being ready for week 1 of the regular season ? The playoffs are the only thing that matters, it doesn’t matter when or how long you play during the regular season. If I were a Pistons fan, I’d feel a little ripped off... Maybe you misunderstood my Raptors comment. They have lost game one at home more times than i can count, I live near Toronto and trust me this is a big deal around here. I'm not saying they will lose this series (because I believe they win) but it is definitely something. I think you also misunderstood my Pistons comments as well. I feel completely ripped of and disappointed....Griffin has finally brought hope back to Detroit and now this. It is devastating. The difference between Griffin and no Griffin is massive and now all hope is lost. I didn't think Detroit was going to win the series anyway, but it would have been fun to extend the series a game or two. Us Piston fans are already looking forward to next season, and hopefully some Kawhi type "load management" will keep Blake playoff ready. He absolutely busted his ass all season to get the team to the playoffs and now can only watch. Blake Griffin seemed to get injured every year in the playoffs when he was with the Clippers. This is par for the course.
Just waiting for Chris Paul to go down.

Yeah, I saw many Raptors fans overreacting to the Game 1 loss as well (no different than the CMB following a Bolts loss). Most were a bunch of people that weren’t recognizing Orlando as a legit opponent (despite being the 3rd hottest team in the NBA since Feb 1st). Lots of “Fire Nurse, Bench/Cut Lowry, trade VanVleet, put in Lin, sign Durant & Kyrie, etc” comments, none of which made a molecule of sense. Today they’ll be back on the “this is our year” bandwagon. Last night I think was actually the first time I seen Kawhi take over a game this year, so as frustrating as the whole load management thing was, it may just pay off...

Leonard couldn't get a triple double if I spotted him two categories.

Leonard couldn't get a triple double if I spotted him two categories. Absolutely ridiculous comments about Kawhi. “Tier 2 Player, not ready for Prime Time” The guy is a former NBA Finals MVP !!! Not to mention a 2x Defensive Player of the Year. Triple doubles are hardly a reliable gauge of how great a player is, and most certainly has no bearing on how far a team goes into the playoffs. Russell Westbrook’s per game averages have been a triple double for a few years, does that make him the best player in the league, and mean his team is going anywhere ? Kawhi puts up plenty of double/doubles, just because he doesn’t often have games with 10 assists, speaks very little to how great of a player he is. An assist actually requires your teammate to make a shot (something the passer has no control over), and is more of a credit to the team’s offensive execution, than it is towards the last guy who passed the ball. Westbrook is a point guard (the most common position to post triple doubles), while Kawhi is a Forward, and when he has the ball he’s more likely to score than to pass it to a teammate in prime scoring position. Getting 10 blocks or steals in a game is something that rarely ever happens, so triple doubles usually come down to a matter of assists. At the end of the game, does anyone compare the number of assists for each team ? Points determine the winner, and rebounds (particularly offensive) is the next likely thing to be compared. Kawhi gets plenty of points and rebounds each game. What I will say about Kawhi is that while he is rock solid, he is the guy that will quietly put up the numbers, as opposed to being the guy that lights the building on fire during his performances. Last night was different, he took over the game and dominated. I hope to see more of that from him, now that we are in the playoffs. Maybe we will. As for the Raptors, I myself an not on the bandwagon thinking this is our year, so I have no argument for you there. I think we have a reasonably good shot at making the Finals, but I didn’t pick us to win it all (see the top of page 9 for my full playoff predictions). My point of the bandwagon comment was that the mindless idiot Raptor fans who were hitting the panic button after the game 1 loss, are likely doing a complete 180 after last night’s ass whoopin. Something I’m sure there is no shortage of within fan bases of most sports teams...

I can't remember a more likable two 1-2 seeds in the East in a long time. Siakam is fun to watch and a really nice guy (came to my son's school to play basketball with the kids). Giannis is a budding superstar and so far seems to be a likable guy as well. The only thing I can't stand about the Raptors is watching Lowry play. He leverages flopping in a way that is embarrassing....he is a strong guy and I wish he played like one. He has quickly moved to a Harden level of exaggerating for foul calls, the difference is Kyle does it on defense where Harden does it on the offensive end. In game one he actually hit a Magic player in the face with his forearm, caused his nose to bleed.....and pretended he was the one that was fouled, lol.

His flopping is indeed ridiculous. His 3 point shooting also has been extremely frustrating all year. Many times he is chucking it up in the run, before even getting his feet set, and it just flies right off the back of the iron. I prefer VanVleet over Lowry without a doubt, but at this time we need both guys since Delon Wright got traded away and Jeremy Lin is just downright awful. We have one more year of dealing with Lowry, then he’s outta here for sure. I really wish Delon was still around though, because I would be perfectly fine with just sliding him & VanVleet up the depth chart...

He is a great player but a strange personality, I think he fits well in Toronto and can deal with the media attention in a primarily hockey city.

But if he opts out and walks, it’s not the end of the world either. The Raptors are a great team with or without him, and I’m not so sure he finds greener pastures elsewhere, so I think it would be his loss. The way I see it, if you can’t be happy within the Spurs organization, you are one tough SOB to please. If he knows by experience that he can be happy in Toronto, then I think he would be a fool to take a risk signing elsewhere long term. But...everyone looks at the decision being totally up to Kawhi. The truth is that the organization has to feel he is worth the investment as well, or they don’t have to offer it to him. Resigning him is probably going to put them into the luxury tax zone for at least 1 year. He needs to prove that he is worth that...

His assists suck. ASSISTS ARE NOT A GAUGE OF A PLAYER !!!! Ok, his triple doubles suck. TRIPLES ARE NOT A GAUGE OF A PLAYER, NOT NOT NOT !! I mean, there isn't much else.....he looks good in his warm up uni ? Lmao.
Good thing you're just trying to pull Chopper's chain and not going after Toronto fans in general.....

I think Kawhi is a great fit in Toronto as well, and of course I hope he remains. I think the Team has done more than enough to sell him on staying. LOL. Prove he is worth it? He’s a top 3 player in the league. Maybe top 2. Freak got to u Prove he is worth eating into the Owners profits, and pushing them into luxury tax. The Owners ultimate goal is to produce healthy profits (something they already do), not win trophies. They are currently #11 on the team value chart. The Raptors already sell out the arena every game, and have a season ticket waiting list. That was the case before Kawhi. The only thing that can change there is the waiting list can get longer (which has zero financial impact). They’ve been perennial playoff qualifiers. If they don’t go any deeper into the playoffs this year, what will Kawhi have changed ? Let’s just say they go all the way this year, and win the Championship. What changes, besides adding some bandwagon fans, buying some merch ? The common thought out there is that the Raptors need to go DEEP into the playoffs, for Kawhi to consider staying. Maybe the Raptors need to go deep into the playoffs for the Owners to consider him worth the financial hit they will take to retain him. The Raptors have made roster moves this year, trading away a player for nothing in return, just to unload the salary and avoid luxury tax. I also have no doubt that the reason why they overpaid in the Marc Gasol trade, was to unload some extra salary. They also played around with 10 day contracts and letting them lapse, so they wouldn’t be subject to luxury tax. Doing all that in the middle of a Championship push season, makes it certainly reasonable to wonder how willing they are to accept luxury tax next year (and possibly beyond), when there isn’t that great of an opportunity to offset it with additional revenue. As it currently stands, if Kawhi were to opt in to his player option contract next year (no chance), they are already $21+ million over the cap, and $2 million past the luxury tax threshold. Resigning him is definitely going to cost them, and from a business standpoint (not to be confused with a basketball standpoint), I’m not sure he will be worth it in the eyes of the guys with the money...
