Disgusting that this is the final “other sport” thread to be created.
Go Raps !
Dont worry Woods, we lost to the Magic too.

Raptors vs. Blazers tonight should be a good game. Can't believe you guys got Gasol in that trade with the Grizzlies earlier.

Raptors vs. Blazers tonight should be a good game. Can't believe you guys got Gasol in that trade with the Grizzlies earlier. It was a thriller of a game alright ! Gasol was a big difference maker tonight, but honestly I wasn’t a huge fan of the trade, I think we gave up too much. I would even be on the fence with a straight up swap of Vailanciunus/Gasol, but throwing in two clutch guys from the bench mob on top of it seemed like a bit much. Losing CJ Miles didnt really bother me too much, but giving up Delon Wright did. I was already thinking we would be set to move on from Kyle Lowry in the near future, with Fred VanVleet and Wright both moving up in the PG ranks, but Wright is a Grizzly now (and who knows where Gasol will be come next year). Probably the biggest upgrade over Vailanciunis is Gasol’s passing ability, that has been impressive no doubt. It’s still way too early though to judge his overall impact. I can only hope he’s fully integrated into the system just prior to the playoffs. Go Lakers ! (tonight only)

You'd know more than I, but I'd imagine it's to surround Kawhi with enough playmakers that complement his style of play in an effort to have him re-sign with the team in the off-season.
But, yeah, that was a thrilling game alright.
Next year's FA should be a pretty exciting time. I don't know if the Warriors are going to be able to keep Durant, Thompson, and Green. Two of the three, unless they all take pay cuts. I can see Durant in NY. Maybe Kyrie Irving too.
The balance of power is slowly shifting from the West to the East.

I live an hour from Toronto but I am not a Raptors fan. Long time Pistons fan from the 80s, so by the time the Raptors arrived I was already loyal to a team.
Pistons/Raptors games have been great this year (for Pistons fans). I really hope they matchup in the playoffs, would be a great series!

It is amazing to see so many FAs expected to go to the Knicks year after year and it never happens. Seeing the Knicks with the highest ticket prices in the NBA and decades of average basketball is fun....I hope nobody ever goes there.

It is amazing how much sports talk radio/tv etc...is being wasted on the Lakers (and Celtics).
So many great games and stories happening throughout the league and all we get is the same big market crap day after day.

Two of the three, unless they all take pay cuts. I can see Durant in NY. Maybe Kyrie Irving too. The balance of power is slowly shifting from the West to the East. The thing with that theory is, Gasol is not under contract after this season is up. In fact, I’d say Kawhi is more likely to be with the team next year than Gasol is. The Gasol trade had to be a “win now” move, and one that I was not sold on from the beginning. He has shown flashes, but overall has yet to make any more of an impact than Valauncunius would have if he were retained (and unlike Gasol, JV still has a contract beyond this season). Gasol aside, the bigger impact from that deal has been an indirect one. We replaced Delon Wright (who was part of the Gasol trade), with Jeremy Lin via the buyout market. While both Lin and Gasol need to be given time to adjust, neither are performing as well as JV and Wright are for Memphis so far, with far less talent around them. I don’t think there were high expectations for Lin, but he’s actually been a liability. I place a good amount of the blame for our two game skid on him personally, in the short amount of time he’s on the floor, things always start falling apart. He’s turning the ball over multiple times, getting burned on defense and couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat. The opposing teams are going on runs while he is out there. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Durant. I personally hope he stays in the West, and doesn’t become part of another “Superteam”. The balance of power might indeed be shifting, but like you said, it’s happening slowly...

I think those games are definitely gonna be thrillers anytime they tip off in the forseeable future, given the Casey factor. It would be fun to see them go head to head in round 1, and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if that series were to go to 7 games. I do think your PA Announcer is quite annoying though, so for that reason, I hope I don’t have to see 3 more games played there

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind Durant (and Irving) going there, as much as I would hate seeing Durant : a) stay put, b) joining Irving with the Celtics or c) either of them going to the Lakers. The Knicks have had limited success, so while I hate the thought of an NYC based team getting more sports Championships, the Knicks at least are worlds apart from the Yankees. The last thing the league needs is more of the same teams winning the championships all the time, and if the Knicks were to win some in the future it would actually be something different. While the Celtics glory has been limited the past 30 years, I’m REALLY getting fed up with Boston winning sports championships in general. While this opinion probably won’t be the most popular amongst this crowd, I am really glad the Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers didn’t happen. I had no issues with LeBron going there, but I don’t wanna see another “Superteam” out there. 29 other teams would kill for LeBron, so either make something happen with him or get outta the way.

It’s almost like there isn’t a season going on right now...we need to spend every day discussing who is going to join LeBron in LA next year.

I would love to see the Knicks become successful with homegrown talent through the draft not by becoming yet another "Superteam". I LOVE that Anthony Davis wasn't traded to the Lakers....it was so much fun watching LA offer their entire team for him and it still wasn't enough. The implosion by the team after every player feeling like they were put on the trading block is priceless.
