No, it’s not a must win in a true sense. IMO It’s a must win to avoid the season long chasing to catch up show that we have witnessed for the better part of the past decade. Win next week and they’d likely be looking at a 3-1 first quarter of the season. Lose, and they’re likely staring at being two games behind the Chefs before their schedule starts ramping up. As others have noted, the oline looked a lot better today, so that’s a positive. They have to play the games yet, just like every other club, but the chasing the Chiefs has started. It is a long season, anything can happen to derail a club, but..... Two penalties result in 14 points coming off the board....who where those penalties called against? Two turnovers in the red zone, but the fumble at the one was sloppy......the interception was classic Rivers....pushing a bad position. Double coverage, very slight chance that pass connects. One is right above your post. Awful call. The second was a hold on Inman. Again, very ticky-tack and rarely called, especially when it’s a team that’s owned by a guy who likes a happy ending.

Inman had his hand on his shoulder. more of a push than a hold. This was a game lost. the Bolts should have put this one away. 30-16

In hindsight we should of activated Bags, I bet he was good to go but they were being overly cautious. Rivers reaction after the 2nd missed fg reminded me of last year pre Bags. I had the same thought.
I also thought it was a mistake to try for the second field goal. We had a 3rd and 2 just outside the red zone and was telling everybody around me that they should be treating as 4 down territory. run it on 3rd knowing you have 4th to pick it up. They didn't convert on 3rd, missed the FG and Rivers face palmed.

From the sounds of it the Chargers played a sloppy game filled with boneheaded mistakes. It doesn't matter as the Patriots will rip through the AFC like they do every year. What is most frustrating is the Chargers supposedly have all the talent necessary to win, yet look like an average 7-9 team.
It's the same every year. Anything short of a Superbowl win is a failure.

They dominated that game, but then had mental errors and few bad calls go against them at the worst times. That is why I said it was a loss, not a Detroit win.

Detroit won the game, no matter which way you spin it. NFL doesn't give out trophies for teams that should have won. Isn't mental errors considered sloppy? I can tell you the Patriots have very, very few mental errors. How do the Chargers go from this loss to how the Patriots perform? Because that's what it takes to win a Superbowl.

Its hard because it is such a broad term.
