His name is Derwin James. He is our leader. He does many, many things. He is out of a walking boot. That is all.

One of your better posts Freak. Agree completely. However, to the posts above about it's coaching is valid. I also think cthommes thoughts carry weight as well. You can't just assume that it doesn't matter. It does. But that is where coaching has to play a role. The coach has to get his players to look beyond the circumstances and see opportunity. Instead, of going vanilla, because the talent is less, is flat out the wrong approach if that is what they are doing. You do not go vanilla, you challenge the subs to play beyond themselves. Most of these men all believe they are good enough to start, to do the job. So why give them less. It sends the wrong signal. Challenge them. Jason Moore is an example. Pulled of the PS, thrown into the game, and he played really well. Pressure makes diamonds. IF they fail at their best, then it is what it is.

No swag. Derwin has it. We need it.
Can’t ignore the impact of the environment tho. First year, it was a novelty and Lynn was new. They gave away some games but almost fought their way into the playoffs. Second year, still on the come up. Went 4-3 at “home” which is terrible but had the ASAP mantra and went 8-1 on the road. That hasn’t carried over to this season. At a certain point — and it may have been the 1st quarter against Denver— the mentality collapsed. The last 2 games have been putrid affairs at home. No energy or effort and no results on the field. The stands were filled with visitors and its pretty clear that nobody in LA wants them. Even after a 12-4 season they are orphans in a foster home and the placement officers screwed up big time. It’s discouraging going to Charger games. It’s got to feel the same for them. Paycheck players

We did it last year, so you have to look at what has changed. Well, what has changed from last year to this year ? It gets really simple huh ? 2018 we enjoyed the least amount of injuries IN YEARS AND YEARS. All of those stars went to playoffs. The coaches have to use what they have. Culkin is not Hunter Henry, and there is no escaping that. Scott is not Okung. Feeney is not Pouncey. On and on and on. Phillips is not Derwin James and we don't even have Phillips !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, plans change and get real limited when you downgrade off of pro bowlers my friend. The only exception is Belichick, and that's why he is the exception and the GOAT. Be careful about having those kinds of expectations. Because its flat out not going to happen. I'm not being mean, I share your desire to have Andre Patton perform like Tyrell Williams. But alas, Feeney is not Pouncey level, and they ain't gonna be either.

I get that the lesser talent will struggle to meet what you demand, but you can't limit yourself more. Sure you may run a few more simple plays, but that also means teams only need to defend the simpler play. I think you handicap yourself more doing so. its not about expecting players to play above themselves, its about letting them know you believe they can. That is a culture changer to me

I’ll summarize much of these discussions into one concise proposition:
The losing formula = Tom Telesco, Anthony Lynn, Gus Bradley, Whiz, inadequate talent/depth/development/coaching, and too many injuries

I once had a dream that we went to the super bowl. I woke up to find out that we have these injured players on the roster: mike pouncey, Derwin James, Forrest lamp, Russell Okung, Travis Benjamin, Adrian Phillips, Melvin Ingram, Nasir Adderly, Justin Jones, Brandon Mebane, Dontrelle Inman, Sean Culkin. All players who have contributed in one way or another. My dream has turned into a nightmare. Reality is now a horror film.
