Herbert played like a 4th rounder last night in the Rose Bowl... I don't get how nobody is talking about that right now. One game doesn't make a career, but that was an important game and Herbert layed an egg.Did he ??
Winning QB that won the Rose Bowl.
He had 3 rushing Touchdowns.
He leads all active QB's with 98 TD's in college football.
Playing against a stout Wisconsin defense, seems like he took what he could from a defense to get the Win.
Just win, baby.
Wisconsin lost that game on turn overs.

He did... It was not a good game for him. Like I said, he is an accomplished college athlete but that game should have been a showcase for his arm not his legs. I loved his emotion after the game, you can tell he played hard.

I like winners.
I'm not used to winners.
But I like winners.

Some of the talk that came out of the Citrus bowl was tua may return to Alabama if he doesn't think he will be drafted high enough. If Tua stays in school, which he very well might, then my 'guess' is Miami takes Herbert. TT resigns Rivers, takes an OT @#6, and focuses on OL and DL in both draft and FA's. If Rivers is as 'done' as many on here say, TT will be drafting in a top ten slot once again, giving the Bolts another shot at a new QB high in the draft.

PR knows the team has to draft a successor. Drafting one is part of the business. There’s very little upside for Rivers in LA if the Chargers take a QB at 6. Small chance he’d have more than 2 years as a starter and he’d still be playing behind the human garbage bags filled with bacon grease that constitute our offensive line. Rivers and a tackle or Tyrod and a QB. Rivers probably only plays two more years, and Rivers might actually enjoy helping a talented young QB. TT not fixing the OL will make the choice at QB irrelevant.....

You are attempting to sacrifice quality at the most important position on the field in order to play both sides of the fence. I'm not damning your post at all. You know what you get with a second round QB ? One that was not rated in the first round, that's what you get. Second rounders have been found. Farve and Brees were second rounders. But you are really really shortening the odds and percentages. The Steelers tried to buy insurance with Mason Rudolph. He was picked in the third round. Hoped to groom him behind Big Ben. Rudolph was so boringly average the other team hit him in the head with his own helmet just to get some excitement in the game. Herbert played like a 4th rounder last night in the Rose Bowl... I don't get how nobody is talking about that right now. One game doesn't make a career, but that was an important game and Herbert layed an egg. It was not Herbert's best effort, or statistical effort, but they did win. It is one game, against a good defence, on a big stage.....perfect for evaluating the decision making of this prospect.

It was uglier than the opening loss to Auburn where Herbert had better stats but the offense still under-performed. I'm honestly starting to warm up to bringing PR back at least one more year and hoping we can draft Andrew Thomas OT out of Georgia. There are also a ton of free agent QB's this off season, so I'd rather not "settle" for Herbert or Tua if there are better options in the 1st.

If the relationship is solid still, resign Rivers (2yrs/25 mil per), resign Ekeler and HH. Focus on OL and DL in FA. If Herbert is there, take him, then go BPA with a heavy influence from need. If they are not resigning Rivers, things get interesting. I would still take the steps above (minus the Rivers step). I would have zero interest in FA QB's, too expensive in my view. Roll with Taylor and Herbert, if you get Herbert. If you don't take Herbert, you are certainly getting a day one starting OT, and that will make Taylor happy. Fix the OL, and hope for a 14-2 season, but if it is 2-14.....you get you shot a the hotshot QB that draft.

Let me give you a super duper secret that you will only hear first from me. Its always me me me me me me me me me me me.
Herbert will get drafted high, and he needs to call Lamar Jackson and thank him for it.
WHAT ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?! Freak has really lost his mind this time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a copy cat league, and Lamar Jackson magic is sought after by GM's that are like drooling vampires in a blood bank.

What is your sense on my "You never know when we are returning to a Top 6 pick again, and you don't know what QB pool will be there at that time."
What is your sports organizational feel for my warning ?
PS Playing footsie with Rivers for 1-2 years and having the rookie on the bench is better than Here, welcome to the Pros. Now go out there and die for 2 years.

Herbert is a much better passer than Jackson....... Thats a bold statement seeing as how Jackson is a league MVP frontrunner... Based on that I would think Herbert would be the undeniable first pick.

It’s clear that you guys don’t watch much, if any college football. But it’s nice that you took the time to watch the playoffs and some bowl games.
Justin Herbert is Blake Bortles v2.0. Big fast with a rocket arm. Accuracy issues and below average reading a defense. Eason and Fromm will stay in college to enhance their draft status. Btw- did you see Fromm last night with only one legit WR to throw too? I don’t want to get the rep that I’m a Joe Burrows hater. He had one of the best seasons ever. But there is a lot going on at Baton Rouge right now. That team is a juggernaut. That being said, what happens if they lose to Clemson and Burrows isn’t the best QB in the field? He also has great WR’s and a stud TE. I don’t think he is a lock for #1. Tua will come out. Breaking you hip is a compelling reason to avoid another injury while playing for free. He will be a top 5 pick and still has a good chance of being the first QB off the board. Jalen Hurts is an amazing athlete but is dumb as a fence post. His NFL future is not as a QB.
If I’m the Bolts I take the best player available. If that’s a QB so be it. If it’s not, sign Marcus Mariota and a QB whisperer to repair him. Too much talent there to be wasted.
